It runs as a service on Windows taking up some resources. Not enough to make a difference here. It's just one more layer of crap that really doesn't belong on a DAW. If the plugins are worth it then you have to decide if it's something you want to install.dellboy wrote:So what exactly is so bad about software i-lok ?
I have it installed for the Air package and others without any problems.
I find it baffling that so many people hate it. Why ?
The only real problem I have had is forgetting to write down my id and password.
I remember the issue I had with the soft manager. It offered an update and I allowed it to install but after that none of my plugins would load. I had to hunt down and install an older version of the iLok Manager. I've got it sorted and since then all is working fine but I remember that episode raising my blood pressure a few points.
What was that Soundtoy's freebie they released a few weeks ago ? I was impressed at how easy the iLok Manager made installation and authorization. So I almost became an iLok fan....almost....
I'd rather not have any extra software installed to run anything but in this case the Air Plugins have made it all worthwhile and I've been able to take advantage of freebies like the Eventide and Soundtoys offerings.

Ive had Ilok for the past few years since they added the software option for protection vs usb key only. No issues, not any over the The top cpu usage.. and I have about 15 different licenses on it
I read more than post = I listen more than I talk

Prompted by this thread, I was just playing around with some of my old patches again, comparing it with Sylenth1.
I actually think it sounds more analog than Sylenth1 does, more classic, i.e. less EDM, which is a good thing
It also has more "sizzling" and the volume does not drop when applying resonance (I know old hardware did that as well, but I don't like it).

This uses Pace Eden software for authorsiation it uses less than 1% CPU resources, doesn't even require an iLok account silently installs, you can enter a serial and soft unlock. The advantage of the optional iLM is that you can move licenses and optionally use a dongle some people want this.
If you have an ilok Vendetta this isn't for you
but for the 99% of people who want a decent synth at a no-brainer price, we hope you enjoy.

After my old computer broke, I simply downloaded the latest version of iLok from their site and entered my Air license keys. I suppose that should not happen again as I have no spare authorizations left

If you need seats re allocated just drop us a line. On the same computer you won’t need to re enter a code if the OS is intactfluffy_little_something wrote:After my old computer broke, I simply downloaded the latest version from their site and entered my Air license keys. I don’t understand your vendetta here on any AIR topics. Just here to assist.fluffy_little_something wrote: Is that Air's goal, merely a decent synth?

What vendetta?!sbangs_air wrote:I don’t understand your vendetta here on any AIR topics. Just here to assist.fluffy_little_something wrote: Is that Air's goal, merely a decent synth?
I bought several Air plugins - before you started to throw them at people basically for free, which I consider a slap in the face of people who paid for them.
And yes, there are things that could be improved, I remember writing a review on your sub-forum, also for Xpand2, but you don't seem to improve your products the way other developers do. You drop a new major version every couple of years, and then run. No perfectionism or anything. Compare that to the zillions of updates Tal releases for their products.
