Extracting wavs

Does anyone know if you can extract wavs from the intakt engine run eastwest software packages [like stormdrum or adrenaline]?
I think they might be on the CD's themselves however, Atmosphere and Trilogy had huge .dat files so extracting wavs would have been a cumbersom process.
Also is there a program that extracts giga format CD's to wavs?
I'm running FLS and I'm satisfied with there sampler so I just want the wavs out of these packages.
Any Input appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

Here are some programs that will cut up wav's very well.
PC
Sound Forge
Wavelab
Pro Tools
Mac
Sample Manager
Pro Tools
Peak to some extent
Once you get things spliced up here are a couple of great batch renaming programs that are free or almost free:
PC
CK Rename
Mac
Sample Manger (this is a great app btw)
Renamer 4Mac
Hope this helps...

I appreciate the reply. I think recording the samples and batching is not something I'm willing to do.
I've gotten some Halion CD's where there are wavs on them. I'm interested in StormDrum and Adrenaline, and would prefer not to use intakt, however if worst comes to worst I'll use intakt.
Thanks for the reply,
Joe

Joe you cannot legaly extract the wavs from those products, the players are included as EastWest's form of anti-piracy. Those .dat files are presented that way to keep people from getting at the raw .wav files...

Remember before you decide to do this thar extracting the .wavs is more than likely a violation of the EULA you agreed to when installing the Intakt player...

Someone else earlier posted a now deleted thread about converting a certain proprietary format of a company's flagship application into a format accessable to anyone with a vst loading host.
You guys think it's so great to side step $thousands of dollers in R&D, but what you are doing is killing the companys you love to exploit to the point where they can no longer innovate & provide new applications to be raped.
Is that what you really want?
There are proprietary formats for a VALID reasons..

Just for my benefit, could someone explain exactly why NI / Eastwest would forbid you to extract wav files from there VST libraries? I mean, you are licensed to use these sounds in your music are you not? You are allowed to take samples and manipulate them to create new sounds for use in your music, right? So why disallow access to the files? I can see what you mean about piracy, but surely they will be cracked like any regular VST.
This makes no sense to me!

Because they could be redistributed much easier as extracted .wavs.Tied to the Impakt player maes them a lot harder to redistribute.tee boy wrote:Just for my benefit, could someone explain exactly why NI / Eastwest would forbid you to extract wav files from there VST libraries? And while I understand the reasons to deliver samples in a proprietary format, I still don't like those.
I'm pretty much into repatching samples, but with all those proprietary formats you just get what companies want you to get.
As said, I understand the reasons, but I still hate it.

Oh, i understand this ofcourse. But surely NI realise that there other, more genuine reasons to want access to the files! I understand why they themselves dont make the files available, but i dont get why they forbid their paying customers the right to them either. When i buy a Refill, the first thing i do is spend about 6 hours knocking off audio files so that i can have a mess with them. Maybe this is against the rules, but f**k it I dont think its doing any harm. Eitherway, it all seems a little silly! Inconveniencing your paying customers in order to stop pirates is not exactly a good strategy imo. You cant stop piracy, but you can sure put people off buying your products.
I have another one, for anybody in the know. Do you think they use any kind of compression to keep the size of the libraries down? Kind of like with Refills, which seem about half the size of the unpacked library. I wondered if they might make these libraries un-necessarily large to prevent pirate downloading. I mean, 3 - 6 Gig would take some seriousl time to download. I know there is a lot of material in these libraries, but surely there isnt THAT much. What was Atmosphere, about 4 Gig? And it had what, about 800 patches? Surely they could have made it smaller than that. Is this a new form of copy protection? Use 30 second multisamples to create a library of such volume that no warez head will download it? I think it may be, or am i just talking complete bollocks! To be honest, its not really a problem, other than the fact that my harddisk has to be about 4 times the size now.

CDXtract will allow you to convert Giga files to wav. I dont think its possible to convert the others, other than sampling and re-patching them.

My intent was to buy the package. Only if I did not have to use the intakt engine.
I had no plans of re-distribution, I want to use the FLS [which I paid for] sampler cause its very intuiive and I love the beat slicer and stretch feature for loops.
So is what your telling me? that they [ the sample packages in question] are large .dat files that contain no wavs and require the intakt engine. Because if so the problem is solved.
Either I don't buy the packages or I learn the intakt engine.
Didn't mean to give you the wrong impression.
However, This brings me to a new question are there programs that extract audio cd's in an organized partition fashion like CDXtract does for AKAI CD's?
Thanks,
Joe
