What makes analog so analog?

what about the Pro-53's 'analog' setting that emulates crappy circuits..Albino has it as well...
FM7 also has an 8bit oscillator setting. Now that's emulating 'old digital', even better. I could have put that into Sytrus, but it would have been too snobbish.

Next step is a broken synth simulator, that outputs nothing anymore.

We'll see shortly if my memory was playing tricks on me, or whether a 96 kHz recording really does sound better to me. Of course, since everyone has a different hearing response, different speakers, etc--what might sound obvious to me might not sound obvious to everyone (or even anyone) else. It should still be a fun little exercise.

stay tuned...

it's 3:15am here, but Im going to stay up till this is done and I can listen (I dont goto bed normally till 4-:430 anyways).. so hurry yourself up ;)

I don't know. I can speculate that I'd be alive for a few hours until I needed a shit, but then I'd die soon after needing a shit because there'd be no way to get it out of my "temple" !!

Or I could speculate that my body could give itself a colostomy.
I could squuueeezee you & turn ya brown like a true yardie :hihi:

This discussion has given me a new level of respect for gol.. somewhere slightly above nothing... it's a start :)

That's just hilarious.

Kudos to the people who are taking this tired old argument in a new and actually interesting direction, by the way! :D

(if you couldn't take a shit... would it just eventually force its way through your esophagal sphincter so that you choke on your own shit/vomit?)

what's your point, man..?

I've managed 2 years to avoid a clash with the famous Gol, but let's strap on the armor & work it out

Wasn't Gol the name of one of the fighters in Piers Anthony's classic "Battle Circle"?

I must infer that you're saying I do not understand the butterfly effect. In its basic terms, its the tendency of a system to be sensitive to a specific set of conditions.

On a long enough time line this effect becomes unpredictable.

then you would achieve true emptiness as you would be a part of the void..besides..if all true assholes disapeared, someone would be BOUND to miss you..

I don't think so, no. I think its more likely that your shit would work its way into your bloodstream

I've victimized myself with poor wording. I'm sure you actually have a greater understanding of the actual definition of the butterfly effect than myself. I simply meant that the timeline and unpredictability is so minute that people forget it's unthinkably more probable that nothing will happen than that something will.

[edit]

And to bring that argument back to the analog synth debate, when you play a note for 2 seconds or even 10 minutes, that's a short enough timeline that the unpredictability isn't a factor and can safely be excluded from the list of algorithms.

I would agree with you regarding the frequencies above 20 khz - and WELL above. There is a particular sensation in the skull as well when one is "hearing" these super high frequencies. I too have been able to sense things that should be well, well above the range of human hearing if 20 was the limit.
And several others that I have known too.
Although for the most part I will get this reaction:

"what noise??? are you nuts? there is no sound, just leave it..."
resistors are futile you will be simulated
