length not have to be edited (at least not per note based) dropped a video to an other topic if u are interested >satYatunes wrote:^^^ I do have RapidComposer lite. It's plugin version is not well integrated with DAW.
Look at the first 5 mins of the video you have to posted. You will see what I am talking about. You have to do the routing, juggle thru multiple windows, etc. The default notes for chords are 16th notes. You have to edit it to make longer. I believe someone has already submitted an FR to change this. I have tried it with Reaper only. Believe me I have watched a lot of videos and tried many times but somehow it feels more of hindrance to the workflow. In the above video looks like the user is struggling whereas watch any of the Cubase chord track video, it looks so easy. RapidComposer is a very good tool but not great.

Why did you pay 325$ if it was posted everywhere that it is $255?tunafish88 wrote:I picked it up... It stalled in the SW system.. I'm happy... $325 is a great price for Cubase 9.5 Pro..
I installed it and nobody asked me anything about what I crosgrade from. I entered the serial number on Steiberg web site and it gave me activation code.

If yous like Sonar why not use it untill your current computer dies or the servers get closed down and you can’t reinstall ?

This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here?

They should buy it while they can.aMUSEd wrote:Might do for people on the subscription
Reading the announcement on the online store it looks like subscriptions will carry on as normal.
It says everyone still has access to the content in their Cakewalk account and they’ve established a team to serve the community.
When the announcement says that they’ve reduced operations and stopped new product development that means just means they’ve cut staff and are only selling whats currently available.
That’s a bit different from “the company is dead and everyone has to jump ship immeditely”.

It's true that it won't cease to work all of a sudden, but, if there's a Windows or MacOS upgrade, then compatibility may break, if Sonar relies on some libraries or whatever which are removed, or modified. Rarely happens on Windows, but, who knows. Also, i like progress, and i like my software being improved, so, lack of development may be a bummer for the people using Sonar, or other Cakewalk software.
Not so much for their plugins, i guess, because, really, development of those was pretty much on the slow side anyway.

That just means you don’t update and stick with last compatible os revision.chk071 wrote:It's true that it won't cease to work all of a sudden, but, if there's a Windows or MacOS upgrade, then compatibility may break, if Sonar relies on some libraries or whatever which are removed, or modified.
So what do you think needs improved ?chk071 wrote: i like progress, and i like my software being improved, so, lack of development may be a bummer for the people using Sonar, or other Cakewalk software.
I also like progress but with some things if they work well enough I don’t feel the need for them to be constantly changing.

I don't know, but, i am not Sonar user anyway. As far as i'm concerned, there's always room for improvement. Cubase, for example, evolves and develops pretty much since its beginning, and they always have ideas for version updates. I only used Sonar very briefly, but, what i noticed was that there's often 3 or 4 ways to do the same thing, which i think could well be streamlined into a single way of doing it, which is fast and efficient. I also didn't like the inconsistency of the GUI, and the very old DX plugins which come with it. I'd be damned if it is all rosy in the latest version. But, hey, if it's good for you and for others, and you don't feel the need for improvement, or development, fair enough.Acid Mitch wrote: So what do you think needs improved ?

I'm not sure, but I think you can change scroll wheel behaviour in settings. It's very easy to set hotkeys etc.Astralv wrote:I have 20 years of habit to move up and down from track one to track 60 with scroll. Plugins: My guess is that you're trying to get Waveform 64 bit to load 32 bit plugins (or vice versa), which won't work. No problems with NI plugins or indeed most plugins at all here, so again the problem is likely on your side. Solution: Verify that you're using the right versions. 64 with 64, 32 with 32 (I think - personally I only use Waveform 64 bit).
Support: They can be slow or fail to respond at all, but if you report a bug you will often find they've fixed it in their next update. But they could definitely improve when it comes to feedback/acknowledgment. Have you tried their forum here on KVR, though? ̶T̶h̶e̶y̶'̶r̶e̶ ̶p̶r̶e̶t̶t̶y̶ ̶a̶c̶t̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶r̶e̶.̶ Edit: Apparently they haven't written anyting there for a month. Probably busy with a major release.
Don't give up yet! It's very fast, easy and powerful.
Is the Native Instruments Komplete Ultimate 11 contains many 32 bits plugins? I [...] What in the world?
And why in the world they put tracks on the right- makes me want to turn my monitor up side down or twist my neck. This is impression of having it opened for 20 minutes. I am sure- if I actually try to make sense of it, there will be a page long list of ridiculous.
Native Instruments: the scan finds Kontakt Player and Reaktor Player here, and they work fine. Just thought it would be helpful for you to know that they're not universally rejected.
The layout organises the signal flow according to the reading pattern in the western world, from left to right. Inputs on the left, track view in the middle, "filters"/output on the right. They tried to rethink the concept of the DAW, which meant rejecting some standards in organisation/layout etc. Of course it's going to take some getting used to if you have been following a different logic for many years, but I find it very intuitive. BTW, there's now a vertical mixer view if you need it.
I'm not trying to convince you personally. I'm writing this for others who may be interested in Waveform. You have obviously made up your mind about it, which I respect completely. When Tracktion looked completely dead a few years ago, I dreaded having to look for an alternative with a different layout/logic, so I sympathise. Best of luck!

I got the Waveform+ pack this weekend for $75. It looks like it does everything I need. I downloaded the 11-23-17 manual and flicked thru the 489 pages. When it first checked my plugins it returned errors for all the iZotope plugins but apparently those were for some other .dll application extension files in the plugin folder. I only installed the 64bit VST3 versions and they all load and work fine except for iris2 which is a known problem.

This. I'm not an update freak anyway. If Cakewalk comes through with a promise they would supply a version that don't need activation, I'll be quite good. I'm skeptic about it, but we'll see. Heck, if they do a good-bye offer on upgrades I may even go for it. I chose to keep with W7 so Windows updates do not concern me.Zexila wrote:Exactly.Acid Mitch wrote:Just because development has stopped doesn’t mean it no longer works.

I ended up switching to Studio One. Loaded the trial over the holiday weekend, setup my hardware as external devices and created a template for it, then just started digging in to how everything works. It actually handles my hardware in a much more straightforward way than Sonar did, and remembers how I've mapped MIDI I/O which was always problematic in Sonar. Granted it doesn't have instrument definitions, but I'm not really concerned with any of that -- my JD-Xi and Ultranova have solid editor/librarian apps I prefer using anyway.
I've found far more that I like better in S1 over Sonar than not -- once I understand how each function is designed to work, that is. Anyway, Presonus announcing the $150 crossgrade price sealed the deal for me, just picked it up off JRRShop with the group buy discount for $126.65.

I ordered it literally hours before the price drop. I emailed the vendor and they refunded me the $70.00 so I ended up paying $255.00Astralv wrote:Why did you pay 325$ if it was posted everywhere that it is $255?tunafish88 wrote:I picked it up...
