Hi I just saw that plugin boutique is selling Scaler over there at a discount right now. I tried the demo and studied up on quite a bit of theory and while the software isnt perfect to my liking, it is amazing. It will show all chords in a scale including substitutions. I havnt seen another program at this level of simplicity and usefulness. It even does 9th 11th and 13ths chords and all the other strange ones. Inversions you name it

I bought it after trying it out - it's very effective and dead simple to use. What I really like about this is the simplicity, when compared to other tools that do similar things. A lot of the other progression/chord building tools get in the way of the creative process by being over-complicated, requiring a cumbersome set-up process or having a lousy usability (and I do own some to compare this to...). Not this one - in Logic, for example, you can just use it as a MIDI effect in your channel, which is brilliant. This also gives you the ability to chain it with other MIDI effects, like an arpeggiator, for more complex patterns. There are definitely more versatile tools out there, but I found this to have right balance between ease of use and being still powerful. So it gets a thumbs up from me.

Thanks so much guys! I cannot believe Scaler - it's awesome!! Like a band in a box and perfect for someone like me that doesn't know theory too well. So easy to use and obviously programmed by musicians and producers. Those chord progressions sound amazing too me. Takes me back to the days of sample CD's and feeling like I'm cheating. Can;t recommend this enough.

Im a big fan of this plugin but anyone know how i could go about linking an Arpeggiator to Scaler in Cubase? I use it as a vst instrument and then input other instruments into it. Not sure if there is another method which would allow me to add an arp?
