yeah but if Thorn expiry time is earlier than KVR time then that is the concern.

Finish up your track and stop panicking, man! ...no way BJ and Dmitry weren't considering that the license goes at least until the end of the 1st of the next month. :uhuhuh:

Thanks! Actually, for me, that was exactly the issue I was suddenly thinking about after mmGhost's question. I understand the rules for the OSC deadline :)

Once upon a time, I spent about a month making presets for melda mPowerSynth, because when he launched it there was a deal where he was giving out copies of the synth in return for presets. I developed loads of them.

At about 11pm - my time - on the deadline day, I fired up my DAW to finish them off and export the bank - and the demo had expired. It was set to expire at 12am but not in *my* timezone :x So I couldn't export my presets and claim my synth :(

So I guess mmGhost's question reminded me of that experience and I was a little alarmed, given that I expect to be working on my track until late tonight (but well within the OSC deadline)

Cheers :D

Oh man, it seems I'm about to have a 1000th post anniversary of sorts. One post away, dannnng. Might even celebrate it by posting a little something over here, as it's been a full year since I participated ;) ... hmm hmmm!

About the license: I emailed Dmitry about this, and it actually expires when your local system hits December 1st. So be sure to do a render before that.

If you absolutely need more time -- depending on where you are in relation to the KVR time zone this can cut even something like 10-12 hours off the usual deadline -- you might want to ask for a slightly extended license.

Okay, gotta prepare for that post #1000 now.

:D

That is super helpful, many thanks! We were right to think about it... mmGhost - good spot! I often go past my midnight as I have many hours in hand before KVR midnight, so it would have caught me later!

Good luck with your 1000th post. Spend it wisely :D

I've had a really hard time to decide with which of my two Thorn-only tracks I want to end up on position #20 in the OSC charts. It's really a hard decision...But the decision has been taken. Primarily by the effect of big bad badass bass frequencies in combination with one or two beer...Please don't dare to listen to or vote for this track if you don't own a sub or appreciate bass. And I thought...f**k I will steal 6:34 life time of all listeners...he he he that's great.

This is Thorn (Updated 30.11.2017 - please listen to this update again) ... and have some beer

Cubase 9.5
About 20 Thorns sticking in my head
As usual my mixing is done with Cubase 9.5 EQ, Limiter, Reverb, MultibandCompressor, 1 Magneto II...but this time way fewer FX were used than in the previous tracks (but more beer). All patches have been carefully handcrafted with the help of some samples (and beer) I found on my hard disc or downloaded (Mellotron Choir is so cool!). I refused to use the glitch processor.

Where's 106! I want to get a head start on some drums this time :)

I will say the glitch processor was a little too wild for general use. I tried to make some rhythmic effects with it, but I got too many clicks suddenly, or the filters were just a little crazy etc. Then again, I wasn't really looking for wild sounds this time around.

yep same here, ok now i have a hard deadline will be interesting to see if i can make it...

Funniest thing is that I crunched out my piece, too, setting today as my deadline just to not allow myself to flake off again. There's something about a self-imposed pressure with the sense of ease for potential overtime. It makes things actually go faster for me.

I could've likely polished my track some more, or even listen to it more than on one day, but well... I'm actually kinda happy. :)

I did embrace it for a couple of presets... modulating the mix and mainly using the filters.. with occasional 1/2 repeats... I'll have to look up my project to see what I finally used in my sumission.. but I have loads of presets like this.. SEQ_Preset_1>> Seq_Preset_1a... SEQ_Preset_1ai to iii then SEQ_Preset_2 etc.. just modifications on a theme...

Here's my entry:

Really enjoyed playing with this synth! Its intuitive and powerful with lots of cool features. Tried to keep to just the fx built in, even for mixing, only needed a bit of eq where the built in one did not have the range i needed (on kick and bass) this meant it also used lots of power, so even with only 15 instances my cpu was at max. Still Love this synth tho :)
I did use the glitch processor (and some random mods) for the hihat sequence on this one. creates interesting variations.
