I'm trying to save voice recordings I made of my grandparents in 1979. Only have a Walkman to input to G5 OSX PEAK 4.11. Sound is faint but there. Don't know if I would be harming the input by increasing the "Input Level" PEAK allows in the "Hardware Setting"?
1. Should I leave the input level alone, record then do whatever is neccessary with PEAK to increase the captured data?
or
2. Increase the input level to record the orginal tapes?
3. My Seiko Walkman has a graphic equalizer +10 to -10 for 3 ranges (100KHz, 1KHz, 10KHz). Should I leave these settings on zero?
4. I can now hear music in the background of the voice. The music was recorded over back in 1979 but now is faintly heard in the background! ARGG!

Hi AL,
I would EQ the hell out of it on the walkman, bung it through a mixer/guitar amp/pre amp/home stereo or whatever - just to get a loud enough signal into your G5.
As long as the levels in peak dont (peak into the red that is
) you should be fine...
Tape bleed of the music is another thing however...
