Hello all,

some time ago I found a list with license information (number of authorization/handling of authorizations info) for Native Instruments third party Kontakt libraries. Thought it was on KVR forum but I couldn't find anything in the search and no luck with google either. Going mad here. :? Can anyone help?

Thx in advance!

Well, I don't have that list, but it seems strange that any third-party developer would limit the amount of authorizations for something they have licensed themselves from NI in order to protect the library. IE: NI does not do that. They used to have 3 times for any/all of their product line, which was manageable by the user, I mean you deleted an auth opening up one of the 3 when that came up. They abandoned that years ago however. It's just a matter of having the code, which just works indefinitely.
IE: The authorization is activation in Kontakt from the Libraries part of the interface. It is by definition a NI activation, then.

SO, if it's a Kontakt Player, aka 'Powered by Kontakt' product, there will be an activation thru NI as I describe. If it's not, there is nothing to authorize. Exception: I just acquired something which used a Kontakt script to create a specific or special activation; not an NI activation. I have no indication it's going to be impossible if I have to do it again. NB, this is one thing out of 15 years of using Kontakt and weird. It was a special sort of 'inside' comp deal, though.

I recently came across this from Sample Logic, that's why I remembered I saw a list with the authorization handling/limitations of third party libraries:
When I try to re-authorize a product, I get an error saying my serial is locked, what do I do?
Your account is locked because you have reached your maximum authorization limit for your Sample Logic sample library. This can be due to multiple reasons. As defined in our license agreement, you are limited to 2 machine authorizations and if you wish to have more than 2 computers authorized, an additional license must be purchased. http://www.samplelogic.com/contact
If you have replaced an old machine or reformatted your current machine, your account may be locked. In order for us to resolve this particular issue, please do the following:

1) Login to Service Center on the registered computer(s) that you wish to keep the authorization active.

2) Navigate to the overview tab.

3) Click the down arrow on “Show Details” for all Sample Logic products that are in question.

4) Copy the system ID(s) and Activation Key(s) for the active computer(s) you wish to continue using our products on.

5) Reply back to this e-mail address and paste the system ID, Activation Key and Serial Number information and send it to us via email at support@samplelogic.com

Once we receive your response, we will de-authorize any additional computers we have on record that are not in use. This will unlock your account.

Wow. A stab from the past. That's messed-up, that creates a PITA on the vendor's suspicion of a user based in, well a suspicious nature. I stand corrected, sorry about that. I have never seen someone third-party with a Kontakt lib pull that. Fortunately I have zero interest in their stuff. I'm alienated by that. ;)
