I know its not the most versitile unit but I picked up a Oberheim Matrix1000 super cheap. Its a 1u true analog unit. Nothing special...actually its very stripped down and basic for your modern analog...but it gets the job done and it didnt hurt the pocket book much

You might want to pick up some editor software for it and you'll suddenly find it not so 'stripped and basic' anymore.

Same thing as you said about the Rolands-DCOs on the Matrix too(I've owned three Matrix-6s-I still have my first one that I bought).

I tried a Minimoog Voyager and oh god I'm hurting. I didn't know what I was missing using VSTis.

Surely someone makes a cheaper all-analog synth? Maybe even with more versatile routing possibilities?

Otherwise I'm gonna have to go blow the price of a modest used car on one of these things because getting an analog synth is now a drive more powerful than sex or hunger. Well, almost.

I still own an Oberheim OB-8.
It is really a beast and you can find one for $600 sometimes on Ebay.
It is a great polyphonic synth with a great Unison action.

No one seemed to mention it here

Not normalized but my ears are now cerumen-free and bleeding !

I have downloaded many demos from evolver and his big brother and I'am in love !!!

I'am even testing the editor without I would feel really, really uncomfortable.

This analog / wavetables + smart " wiring " and modulations seems a winning ticket for the price !

And the sound !!!

So unfortunately they didn't have the Evolver at my local music store - they said I could order it through them, but then I'd have to buy it which kind of defeats the purpose of having an actual physical music store where you can try things out - I might as well cut out the middle man and order it myself.

But I think I'll be getting something else instead.

I played the Minimoog again, louder this time - oh my! teehee, blush, tingle - I'm in love! There are little stars and butterflies wobbling around my head and I keep walking into things.

Best of all my wife says it's okay if I buy it. I exercised restraint and decided to wait a week or two.

Now the music store is closed and I have to wait at least until Thursday night. f**k my f**king goddamn restraint!
