Is it odd that after doing due diligence and demoing a synth enough to decide to purchase, when I buy it, I don't want to change how it looks, how it operates and have someone make the sounds I'll use with it?

No, that's not at all odd. It will only be odd if you still feel like that after a few weeks/months of using it.
