I just got the Roland SE-02 and I'm loving it. But after seeing Synthpro's videos, I think I'm going to order the Behringer Model D too. Hard to pass it up at this price.

Things cooled down a bit. Searched around and it looks like the D Synth is a Sweetwater exclusive? No info on the big Euro shops like Gear4music or Thomann. Exporting it from the US will be too expensive with p&p, shipping and in my country the customs will almost double the money spend if they figure out the content of the box is worth more than $10.

I think Sweetwater were the ones who did a discounted pre-sale. The Behringer D is yet to come to other shops. I would guess that it won't come this year, rather next year. I don't know what the delay is about, i haven't read any explanation. But, from what i know, after the synth was presented on shows earlier this year, they wanted to refine it, and release it, when it's ready. E.g. the filter was obviously one thing they still wanted to work on.

In various facebook synth groups there are rumors that it's the Moog license terms that keep the D model from being marketed in Europe. I do find it very hard to believe that though

Hmm... that would be very sad. On the other hand, i think it was a bit bold from Behringer to create such an obvious copy. I wonder if there's really any copyrights to be applied, and if those aren't obsolete now anyway. After all, u-he with Diva, and NI with Monark have also done some obvious emulations, where that wasn't a topic really.
BTW, Behringer's principal office is on the Philippines, not Germany. And Uli Behringer is Swiss, not German. Big difference.

There are no copyright or licence issues, they just aren't shipping yet, its that simple, no guesswork needed.
As for European shops not stocking them, they didn't jump the gun like the US shops, that is all, Thomann will not have them, because Thomann will no longer have any Behringer products, Behringer refused to do business with them anymore.

I think I may have read that production moved to a larger factory, which affected the initial time line. I don't know if that's true but would be a plausible source of delay.
The synthpro video was 4 months ago and at that point the Behringer synth was almost indistinguishable from a Minimoog, so I doubt the cause of delay is 4 months fine tuning given the cost of such a delay.
AFAIK there are no legal impediments to release and if there's one area Uli Behringer knows his way around like few others in the audio gear biz it's that one.
My guess is that we'll see them on the market early next year but I'm waiting for more news like everyone else.
