The wave editor in Cubase has a shaded transient rendering, why?

I'm not a fan from the wave editor in Cubase. I used to love it, but I don't like the colored and shaded waveform. It's difficult to see what you have.
Does anybody know why the transients seems shaded? Or if I can disable this look and get just a solid wave form back?

Thanks. But unfortunately that only affects the wave in the project window, not in the audio editor (double click on audio).
I already try that I just did it again with exactly your setting.

Well my setting there is with background color modulation on. I didn't mean to advise you to do that, the image was just to indicate where in Preferences the audio display controls are found.
I've never seen anything as extreme as your image depicts.

I think I already answered this. I'm pretty sure that the black line is the amplitude marker per sample. It's not accidental and it isn't going to change. I think the color theme and zoom level exaggerate the effect.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Most DAWs have a thin outline around waveforms like this. That's what you're seeing here.

I'm sorry I don't really understand what you mean. Which black line?SJ_Digriz wrote:I think I already answered this. I'm pretty sure that the black line is the amplitude marker per sample. Just try a lighter standard theme (the one on the right) and have a look at a wave from in the editor. I have this effect to this extended at most waves. It's not nice for editing I have to say.

The shading is actually the amplitude peak for each sample. I have no idea what problem it causes for editing, but just zoom in a bit and the black line will become obvious, zoom all the way in and you will see nothing but the black line.midi_transmission wrote:I'm sorry I don't really understand what you mean. That's just not true. No offence. When zooming in a lot you will see just a line in exactly this shading color. No black.
The problem for edititng is simple: It's hard to follow the exact form from the wave.
I think an option like you have in the project window would be very nice to change the wave rendering in the edit mode.

Well, this is what it looks like here with Background Modulation on:
Top pic is Sample Editor
Below that, Audio Part Editor
If I turn off Background Modulation, the lines you see go away. That's what it looks like here. I do a LOT of editing of audio. Zooming in does not create anything more than you see in the middle image here. You're simply not that zoomed in there, as we can see. And as I tried to indicate, that goes away from a Preference choice.

And here is zoomed in far enough that it quits shading and just shows the black line
Each step is a sample ...
