Good question...

There really is no such thing as best... However, if you want to use MPE controllers, then Bitwig is better suited than Live. Bitwig has a more integral relationship between Clip Launcher and Arrange and you can edit audio right inside a clip. Hybrid tracks and the bounce functions make for an efficient workflow. Same with being able to assign and change key commands. The Bitwig modulation system is unmatched. If you want a DAW that integrates well with your CV controlled modular hardware (Eurorack etc) Bitwig is excellent for that.

It's a solid, well integrated application that has a great workflow and forward thinking core functionality.

I actually considered buying Bitwig, but then I walked away when they changed their licensing/ownership policy conditions last year whilst simultaneously increasing the product cost by another £100..

It was a rhetorical one

Anyone knows why Bitwig is so stubborn in not implementing ReWire?

Probably because Rewire doesn't work on Linux.

Yeah...now that you mention it, I think that is what I remember hearing

Supposedly they don't support REX for the same reason.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

The Rewire VST worked well in my (limited) tests: http://www.energy-xt.com/index.php?id=0115
But I don't use rewire myself so it may not be up to your needs.

Cheers,
