Hiya!
I'm looking for a way to "sing" my instrument notes into the computer and turn them into midi notes...
1) I'd prefer to be able to do this in real time so I can hear the instruments and effects as I sing the notes (triggering an SF player while making the midi notes, most likely), but not sure how much latency is involved or how much latency I can handle while doing this.
2) Alternately, a cheaper and more latency-free option would be something that converts wav's to midi notes?
Not sure which DAW I'm going to go with yet, but it's either a copy of FL Studio I bought when it was still Fruity Loops (which they've updated for me free as promised up to 2016, thanks!), a low-end copy of Studio One (I got with the purchase of my Akai keyboard or Presonus soundcard last year... not sure which), or Abelton (ditto).
BTW, I'm using a hopped-up PC with Windows 7 and tons of RAM...
Any suggestions for a host/instrument/whatever that will help me do either option?
Thanks!

if you are using reaper
it has reatune (a tuner plugin with midi out)
just disable the correction mode (which will stop its latency and will stop acting as a autotune )
enable the midi out option to any one midi channel
take that midi output to any instrument track
thus latency free voice to midi
PS try to adjust the window size
too low window size will cause constant flicking in midi if you voice is not consistent
and too high will cause the cpu to burn no matter how great you pc is

Wonderful! I'll check out both...
Xbitz, do you know if Edison comes with the latest version of FL Studio, or would it be an extra add-on purchase?
Apratim, I did mess with Reaper a bit last year, before I realized my computer couldn't handle my soundbox and it kept BSOD'ing on me. It seemed ok as a DAW, but if Reatune is included with the price of the program, it may be a better option to just buy Reaper... definitely worth another look...
Thanks!

Looks interesting... but how far along is it? Think I could use it hooked to my SF player inside whatever DAW I want to use? I used Jeskola X-1 in the past and kind of like it. Does it act like a VSTi? I should play their vids on their site, but I'm jamming some great swing tunes right now... Benny Goodman and Gene Krupa wait for nobody!mcnelson wrote:http://imitone.com/
Been in constant beta for a couple of years, but is usable and capable.

It is a standalone app but it comes with a virtual midi driver so you can send the converted midi to any DAW and trigger any instrument in real-time.Karl the Hermit wrote:Looks interesting... but how far along is it?
