Hi,
not sure if I'm in the right section but I just bought two another Hardware Synth and I already used all my USB port on my computer and wondering if you have any recommendation for a USB HUB or maybe another solution? I'm looking for a good quality that do not created feedback noise
Is Elektron Overhub 7 good quality?
Cheers

Maybe this one ...

Shame it doesn't have standard midi in/out too. I use a pretty standard powered USB hub to connect my stuff. Midi only, no audio. My audio interface has its own USB port.
The Overhub 7 looks like a good choice ... I may get one.

A standard USB hub would be fine, since data is data. However, you need to factor in bandwidth and power. USB3 has plenty of bandwidth, so if your computer has a USB3 port then get a USB3 hub. Also make sure the hub is powered by a wall plug and not the computer, so it can provide enough power to the devices.

It may depend on your hardware gear, and what you're doing with it. This last year, I added an iConnectMIDI4+ to my hardware setup - and it is picky about which USB Hubs you can utilize with it's interface. I ended up picking up an Amazon 10 port powered hub, as it was compatible with the other stuff in my setup. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GG ... UTF8&psc=1 . I took my other hub, and use it for mouse, and other non-instrument related stuff.
Anyway - point is... you should check your periferals, and see if they have requirements for power, or other things..

Thanks for sharing,
I end up buying an Anker USB 3.0 7 port with power. It should do the job.
cheers

Imho that's bad advice, or at least it depends. Powered hubs are needed if what you connect to it draws significant amounts of power. When you use it to connect devices that already have their own power, it's not needed.yellowmix wrote:Also make sure the hub is powered by a wall plug and not the computer, so it can provide enough power to the devices.
The reason to (imho) avoid powered hubs is that they are a potential extra source of ground loops. When there's one less path leading to mains power and it's ground, there's less chance for a ground loop to occur.

If you don't need the USB3 (which has greater bandwidth anyway but most audio devices use USB2) then this is great, has 7 ports, is really compact, supports MTT and comes with a PSU:
