I finally tried it. It can certainly make some cool sounds but a lot of these sounds are too off the wall to use in the context of a pop song. It seems like it would fit better within soundtracks or experimental music.

Also the GUI is too weird for my tastes. For example, I went to the Init patch and started playing with Arpeggiator which is completely bizarre. According to the manual:
The Arpeggiator engine creates signals of its own. It’s not your typical note sequencer, more of a dynamic selector picking the raisins from the polyphonic audio dough.
I want something I can understand and control to get musical results. I am not interested in "picking the raisins from the polyphonic audio dough."

It's a shame because the synth can produce great sounds but it's too quirky for my tastes.

Gonna be an expensive holiday. :?

I do a lot of cinematic styled music, and I think Aparillo could take the place of a lot of the sound effects libraries I'm currently using (impacts, risers, sweeps, etc..). The added bonus being that the sounds I design with it, would be totally unique.

Wish there were a couple more Operators, for a fuller sound in some circumstances.. but it's amazing what it can do with only two. And.. I own (and really like) FM8, but it's just too overwhelming for me to program. So Aparillo might be an easier solution, for those cinematic FX I need.

I usually wait for sales on stuff.. but prolly won't be able to wait on this one. :P

Gonna be eating a lot of Ramen this season.

Yeah...

I was considering the Zero-G Cinematic Solutions Collection at audioplugin.deals for $99.. but Aparillo just makes more sense, for the same money. :borg:

am all about using this in pop music (and already have); that's the fun in it, it's NOT the usual sound. and no harm in being challenged, using something different, making pop music that's not cliched. but to each his or her own...

Hi, I think a latchmode would be great, as Aparillo calls for 'all fingers on deck!',
for using the midi learned sliders. The Alesis VX49 midi controller has
latch mode on it's arpeggiator, so will be very handy as an Aparillo teamate.

It's not hard to get some bread & butter sounds, but if you like
spiced sugars or marmelades on them, they may already be there 8)
What fun, and it doesn't even need a reaktor

I wasted plenty of time with it today. I'm really digging sugarbytes' instruments lately. Factory is rad and I guess I'll be grabbing this as well.

I wish they would make their synths with a real initialized patch to start from. With so many new ways of playing around with the sound, even the default has too many moving parts to learn quickly.

There is an init patch. It's called init and it has no moving parts.

Hey SB, it would be cool if the position of the objects and the manipulation of the 'orbit space' could be recorded too! :)

Be sure to switch off the "Formant" buttons in the Form section. I was scratching my head for days trying to figure out why those extra harmonics were piled on top of my sine wave.

there is a default preset, sitting in the presets directory, alone ontop of the preset folders. overwrite it keeping the name „default“, to define your startup preset.

the standalone will always start as it was closed, as the song recall in your daw would do.
