My actions, you mean my more than five year full time devotion to design this truly amazing sound library. Days and nights and weeks with 60-80 hours of work. Just to sell the library for a way too small amount to even begin stabilizing economically only to get a customer like you who refuses to understand the simple concept of a clickable direct link - and gives me a nightmare online for this as well as filing a paypal complaint. No balance in this whatsoever and perhaps a warning to other creative sound design people: watch out, some customers will be impossible to deal with.

I gave you a choice in our emails Patrick, and you chose to go down this route.

Can you stop this now please? I was about to refund your money but as you started a PP complaint the money is "frozen" on the account and not possible to return so if you just close that the money will be refunded.

Thanks - I will accept that deal.
I have now replied on PP.

Thank you. I can not refund until the case is closed. It's not technically possible.

dark water wrote:@murnau - the case is currently going through Paypal to adjudicate, so I'll leave the finer details until a decision is made by them in a couple of weeks' time. After that, I'm happy to provide further information about how Patrick has acted dishonorably and greedily with regard to someone who:
bought his Fairlight / Synclavier bundle library (named R2 at that time, which contains about 80% of the updated library, now called R3) in March this year;
to someone who has paid an additional $99 due to Patrick's actions of going back on his word (written in an email) regarding ongoing access to library updates;
to someone who has had a problem with working links ''via dropbox'' when downloading that library update
Thanx for the clarification.

As said i personally never had any problems. Afaik Dropbox is large and i guess it's in use by many, many people every day. I personally use it alot too. How it comes you have such massive download problems with a Dropbox content it is hard to understand really.

PS. Isn't it that every customer got the same Dropbox link Patrick?
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

dark water wrote:^^ to answer the technical point murnau, my computer was able to access Dropbox around March when I bought R2. Subsequently, I had a fresh computer install and since doing so, my computer (or rather the browsers I've used: Firefox, IE and Chrome) now can't physically view / get to the main Dropbox install screen as bizarre as that sounds, so I have no Dropbox account currently.
As we know, Dropbox also offers a direct download option, but I've tried to use this several times and it always fails to continue downloading after about 200MB (I have screenshots as proof). When I click 'resume', I get a forbidden message, so effectively there is no way for me to access any download if the link is sent via dropbox.com
Seems to me like a problem related to some protection software you aree using. I've seen in the past some anti-virus software that conflicted with Dropbox, and other similar sites. What are you using?

I have to say that I use Dropbox in several computers, and in several OSes, and never had a problem, although the recent changes made by them really sucked, IMO.

I only use temporary direct links nowadays. If you can access the WBF R2 bonus patches - a bit down on the WBF R2 page at http://bitley.laconicsounds.net/way-beyond-fairlight/ - you can access all links I send out. Nobody needs to have Dropbox or be logged in or anything like that. Do you guys get a "forbidden" message?

No problem here with those links, either logged in to Dropbox or not logged in. But then I've been using Dropbox for years, multiple accounts, multiple machines and platforms, and never had a moments trouble with it. I'm not sure why Bitley is getting all that abuse for what seems to be an issue with the customer's machine or internet connection...

@beely:
This is not an issue purely about download links.

@fmr: it's a good point about anti virus software issues. I use Emsisoft antimalwarebytes, but I get the same effect when disabling Emsisoft in terms of not accessing the Dropbox website properly.

Of course I read the thread.

That's all I see, vague accusations and a lot of name calling from you, and a technical issue where your computer can't download from Dropbox. So whatever issue you are clearly having isn't being communicated very well, but it sounds like a matter you need to resolve privately in any case.

All I know is that my business now has taken a serious damage and the ship is taking in water. So for what it’s worth keep shooting. While there is something left to aim at.
