Doesn't that apply to all the Brainworx stuff?
Pretty much. I have quite a few PA plugs now and I've never paid full price for any of them. I love their plugs, not just their amp sims but their stuff from Elysia like their compressors and EQs as well; they make some amazing stuff but I would never look at anything they sell if they didn't have such great sales.

Come to think of it, I don't know if I've EVER paid full retail price for an expensive plug (or maybe ANY plug). I think it's all been sales and stuff from the classifieds here. :o

Absolutely :D

bass dude was my first Pa amp emulation. It's also great for jazz, funk styles and other related "clean" styles.

Agreed! If you have even the $25 voucher, you can get it for $4... now that IS a no-brainer!
A bit fried in the higher freqs

yep, at 4 bucks it's a steal.

Does anyone know if the Chandler was already on sale this december?

Post

No, wasn‘t on sale - just the Brainworx things

Post

I already used my december voucher to get the MusEQ for $4, but $29 for the Rockrack V3 is still a steal. I now have every amp sim Plugin Alliance offers except the Chandler.

I don't really think I need them all; there's some redundancy happening between the two Mesas and the two ENGLs, tone wise. Actually, with the Rockrack I guess that's three or four Mesas and ENGLs now. Might try to sell one or two, but the sale prices are so low the resale on PA stuff doesn't seem too great.

I didn't like the early versions of rockrack, but the latest stuff is very good imho, particularly handy when you need something light-weight. I do have to say, I hardly use rockrack, mostly preferring the emulations. I got all of the ones I have, for free as well, for lack of anything else I wanted to use my voucher on. I still have a few to collect, if theres nothing I gotta have, I will always default to the guitar stuff to burn a voucher.

-Cheers

*I use them with very high quality guitars, so YMMV when it comes to the sound.

Don't write off the Chandler, it's really quite good. The unusual control setup is nice, too. You'll often find a tone that you weren't looking for, but that you really like.
I got it in an earlier sale with my voucher, mainly because I didn't think much of the other items on offer, and didn't want to waste the $74. I'm glad I did (get the Chandler, that is).

PS
I use a Les Paul Standard (I musn't say the G*bs*n word...).

I'm using custom guitars that I designed and made myself. :band:

+1 for Blue Cat Destructor if you aren’t looking to model a specific type of amp simulation.

Chandler is very rarely on sale. It was on Black Friday, which is when i picked it up. i waited several years to get it on sale!

and yes, it's quite great. in fact, it's... educational. its main difference from all of the other bx sims (and indeed most other amps) is that its distortion is mainly coming from the power amp section, and preamp is mostly used for tone shaping. once you get a hang of how it works, coming up with sounds becomes a breeze. turn off power amp section (like the UI allows you to), and you lose all the magic.
