Depends where you live, as consumer protection legislation is made at the national, not international level. You can resell in some jurisdictions, for example.

you're correct. i buy neither. i do buy Kontakt and UVI sample libraries, but only those that can be resold.

I bought some petrol once. There was NO DEMO. I tried it out for a couple of days but decided I didn't like it. They actually REFUSED to give me a refund. I was DISGUSTED. What a SHADY business.

I did not see your comment on this. But if the Spitfire web site lead you to those expectations and they were not delivered then you would have a case for a refund.

On the other hand, no sample library designers can provide demos of all the possibilities of their libraries. The more demos the better, but they must understand that we put our trust in them.

I guess you could sue them for a compensation though, in case it damages your vehicle. I think in general though, that some customers should question their own customer, or even human ethics, instead of again and again pointing at companies which did nothing wrong. If you're unsure about the quality of a library, don't throw your money away. They're not shady, they want you no harm, they just want to sell you something, and, if you're unsure whether you like it or not, or you don't like it at all, don't buy. Big deal.

We are talking about sample libraries. You can here many demos and read manual, see tutorials but it is still the same as with dress. You can see it, get all details about it but without trial you have no idea how good it really is for you.

What were you expecting? A different workflow? Spitfire's is a bit more involved than some other products and doesn't hold your hand, so if you spent only 30 minutes, you should at least investigate compositional and arrangement workflows. But it certainly delivers what it says on the package in terms of very usable instruments and warpable loops.

Pretty much all orchestral libraries at this level do not do refunds, nor do they have useable demos due to the sheer size of the libraries. There are audio demos, of course, but these are experts making them, so keep that in mind as to what you're capable of. There are many reviews and comparisons on the internet, there are videos demonstrating them. In these situations you must do the research.

As for the legality, in some jurisdictions a refund is possible only if the item is faulty, which is not the case here. Resale laws concerning intellectual property also differ. Check with your local legal specialist/lawyer/jurist/abogado/whatever.

You buy petrol for £299.99 to fill a tank up? Wow. Sounds like you are being ripped off. But then, with 60% tax on petrol, plus 20% added tax on top of that you probably are. But hey, everyone else is, and they happily pay up. Funny world.

This guy is a parade example for someone who try to blame others for his own fault. He obviously not even read Spitfires EULA still dare to ask about legal issues.

I didn't notice if you used PayPal. You could try PayPal Dispute and see if it might help seller rethink decision not to refund your money.

No demo, refund and even NFR of some orchestral libraries - is that legal?
