No, yes ofcourse i even not thought to compare them, obviously different things, just will have to grab Infinite much later (because money i mean). I agree - need both.Cinebient wrote:They are different enough to get both......not what you want to hear i guessc_voltage wrote:Hmm, initial feel when did see UI was not very promising, but after check demo, that what outcoming from this thing damn it's something really nice.

I'm sure there are others. It's not like everybody loved The Beatles.thecontrolcentre wrote:Am I the only one who thinks this synth sounds harsh and un-musical?

Well, there might be a logical explanation for that.thecontrolcentre wrote:Maybe. But this thread is a real love-fest ...wagtunes wrote:I'm sure there are others. It's not like everybody loved The Beatles.thecontrolcentre wrote:Am I the only one who thinks this synth sounds harsh and un-musical?
1) It's not exactly a mainstream synth. We're not talking Diva or The Legend or something like that, that a lot of people have. So there won't be that many people talking about it to begin with.
2) Those who do come to the thread to talk about it probably liked it enough upon hearing the demos to try it out and then after doing that, ended up liking what the synth can do.
Bottom line: You're going to have more positive than negative in a thread like this.
Now, if this was another, say, wave table synth that professed to be the be all and end all and it really sucked, you'd have the KVR faithful ripping it to shreds. Or if, let's say when The Legend was released and it didn't even sound as good as Arturia's MIni. Can you imagine what kind of a train wreck that thread would have been? How many people in that thread said they DIDN'T like The Legend? Very few.
With something like Aparillo, not being mainstream, this is pretty much what I expected.

Indeed it´s not about the best sound quality for me and after demo it several days it is great but hard to oversee that harshness you mentioned. I feel that too.thecontrolcentre wrote:Am I the only one who thinks this synth sounds harsh and un-musical?
I don´t find it unmusical but it tends really a lot to soundscapes, moving pads, FX and cinematic sounds you trigger and hold a few keys rather than really "play" that thing.
The reverb is a bit metallic and hollow for me (like many in synths included) but not so bad at all.
I decided to not buy it yet since i have already enough for this year (like Infinite Pro which fits much more my likings and sounds more smooth, clear, not so harsh if you like).
I have enough tools which can do similar things but with Aparillo you . can achieve very fast interesting results. I just have the feeling it´s fast overused as well.
I will wait a bit to see if the magic holds on.
That said, Aparillo is for me still Sugar Bytes best synth so far.

Agree with most of that. The harshness is there. A little polish and smoothness in missing.Cinebient wrote:Indeed it´s not about the best sound quality for me and after demo it several days it is great but hard to oversee that harshness you mentioned. It's very very clever, as is Factory, where I just love the ways you can modulate the whole grid.
I'm sure I will pick it up when it goes on sale but I have lost the urge I had to get it straight away.
Stick it on IOS though and I will buy it in an instant.

The response has been overwhelming positive. I can understand that since we are drowning in a world of me too wavetable synths. However, I think once the novelty wears off, this synth may lose some of its appeal.thecontrolcentre wrote:Looks like its just me 'n youFrantz wrote:I made similar comments on page 14.thecontrolcentre wrote:Am I the only one who thinks this synth sounds harsh and un-musical?

Wait....i agree too...at least with 50% of that (harshness) maybe 75% since i could say it´s hard to get musical presets to play out of it.Frantz wrote:The response has been overwhelming positive. It´s a strange thing. First i don´t found it interesting at all. Then after diving into it i think it is really great......but yes, the more i play with it the more this harshness comes along and while this thing is very versatile a lot sounds you get are usable as a kind of one use FX rather than presets i would often use or want to play melodies with. Not that it is a bad thing but it might be a love/hate thing after a while. Not sure.

The strengths of this synth lie in ambient and experimental music. If you're looking to play "We've Only Just Begun" or even "Blank Space" you probably need to look elsewhere.
What this thing does, it does very well. I'll be using it a lot for the kind of music I make.

Isn't it a typical experience with any FM config (synth) when modulation is pushed too excessive? I mean, that kind of synthesis doesn't reward random happy&heavy tweaking.Cinebient wrote:the more i play with it the more this harshness comes along
