aMUSEd and Cinebient delivered, now it's your turn. Don't be shy (did I read this sentence elsewhere?).
Not on your life. I've opened myself up to enough ridicule for one day.

Maybe tomorrow.

You've proven more than one time that you aren't fearful. :tu:

Much more (read: almost only) interesting are the guys who 'know it all and better'.

But for now... it's christmas. Let's play nice, no matter if one or another has to learn it.

Okay, but you've been warned.

This is a CD that I completed in August of this year. It's 8 tracks. I have no idea how to classify this. Ambient, experimental, just plain weird. I don't know. But here it is.

No need for a warning. I know your stuff.

What I don't know yet is the Œuvre of one of the most self confident activists (let's say: protagonists) in this thread.

I'd be glad to learn more about it. :hyper:

Yeah well, now this thread is all about Wags who is the centre of the universe :hihi: and no longer about any topic, I think I'll take my leave.
Have a Merry Christmas.

Why run away? You've moved yourself in the spotlight as well.

Alchemy -> Reaktor -> Metasynth
I've heard this before, I think that I've listened to several of your works. I'm curious about the role that Metasynth plays here? It's expensive, mac only, has an old school website etc. What do you think that is unique about it and how were you using it for here?

Right, it's show and tell time instead of pointless bickering

This is what my music sounds like:

https://soundcloud.com/noiseconstruct/s ... bient-from

And these are the synths I currently use to make it, with some usage examples:

NI Reaktor 6. I use the Blocks feature more than ensembles. Blocks is the most advanced virtual modular synth, and that makes it amazing for drones and complex generative textures. "Long March Back" is two Blocks patches, a drone and a noise construct with DemogOrgan and Prism for the chords and melodies. And some Reaktor fx as well iirc.

NI Prism It's a Reaktor ensemble, but also sold separately so warrants it's own mention. It's a modal bank synth, which is quite unique as it uses a bank of tuned resonant filters as it's oscillator core. It can sounds very acoustic in a physical modelling style, and has fantastic internal feedback routings which is also pretty rare. If you like modern ambient made with guitars, but can't play guitar like me, check it out. I think it's in all of the tracks except "Io"?

Madrona Labs Aalto I use Aalto because of it's interface and limitations, it's sort of what 0-coast is to a full wall of modular when compared to Reaktor, but it's just so nice to patch, small and intuitive. And there aren't many/any other single page VSTis with a complex oscillator > lpg > waveguide > SVF > and incredibly good sounding spring verb emu- in other words, it sounds unique. Aalto is responsible for all the "extraterrestrial marine creatures" in "Io".

U-he Beatzille Bazille is on my (forever?) shopping list, when I grow out of Beatzille. Turns out even the limited free version is really, really deep. It's super versatile, polyphonic and could do almost anything, but I use it mostly for leads and pads. On "Io", I actually used one of the presets for the main lead, Cave something or other by Howard Scarr, I couldn't dial up anything better myself, it's a gorgeous patch.

Linplug Spectral I haven't had this for long (how stupid of me), but it's an amazing synth for pristine digital pads. Most of the ambient pad sounds I like can't be made with analog or VA synths, and I looked for the perfect synth, soft or hard for a long time until I found it in discontinued plugin. It's the background pads on "Cloudride".

Zebralette and Synth 1 Yay, freebies! They both have their sound quality issues, but have a real world use case- they use very little CPU which means they are great for layered sounds. I have an instrument rack for three Zebralettes which is used in many tracks on my playlist. It has nice MSEGs and can import classic Wavestation and Prophet VS waveforms, therefore capable of complex sounds used by many ambient masters. There's also a few KX77Free synths on some tracks, which are imho the best freebies ever, but I switched to x64 only DAW before their 64-bit versions came out and they were sidelined from my workflow. Maybe they make it back one day, but I'm only capable of so many synths at a a time.

Hardware is off topic, but the best sounds on those tracks (imho) are from DSI synths, and I like using them more and they will be centerpiece for all future stuff with VSTis in support role. I'll be getting more hw next year. YMMV, but don't count hardware out before trying it yourself.

Props to those who posted their own tracks, will have a listen later!

Spectral is LinPlug's masterpiece. I can definitely see how it can be a great synth for glossy, 'digital', ambient pads. It has so many options to make cool, animated sounds. You've reminded me to fire it up again!

Cool (if that means anything to a Nordmann at all *wink*). Around six o'clock on a christmas morning over here and your track(s) perfectly fit to the fresh air coming in through wide open windows.

Let me dial in more volume so that my neighbours enjoy the sound as well. :)

Another day another ambient :D
Really the last one i post in this thread...3 is a good number :)
It´s more of a melancholic side maybe.
Again a lot Logic intern tools. Alchemy (which is also Logic now of course). A bit Omnisphere again, Dune 2 and B2 and Aether.

I would neither call it Ambient, nor relaxing
