Never had much luck with the Steinberg forums, so I thought I'd ask here.
Halion 6 has Waldorf + and - comb filters.
The seem to be almost non-functional, when compared to the comb filters in Waldorf hardware.
Those filters in the hardware can get really wild. :tu:

I'm wondering if maybe they just threw them in there, and plan to work on them later or something?
They seem to be pretty useless right now. All the other filters, including the other ones under the Waldorf heading seem to work just fine. Anyone have any input about this?

Those are legacy filters and probably never going to be worked on them any time ever, they're in for backwards compatibility.

And as much as I like Halion, Steinberg is not exactly leading the way with their filters so the old ones are best avoided.

Bummer.

But it's good to know so that I don't get my hopes up for them.
Other than that, I'm liking Halion 6 a lot.

They're there for backwards compatibility with Halion 3 content and should be avoided if you're planning to make a library that will be released to the public.

The modern Halion filters sound better anyway. They were made by ex-Creamware engineers who were behind one of the first great Minimoog emulations.

They're also behind the brilliant algorithmic reverb included with Halion and Padshop Pro. It could be considered an improved successor to the algorithmic part of WizooVerb, which they also made.

It's quite interesting... Waldorf usually does really good digital filters. Perhaps they nerfed the ones in Halion on purpose :D

That was my first thought when I heard how gutless they were.

Those waldorf filters were originally in the A1 analog synth ( powered by walldorf ), included with cubase sx1
I really loved that litlle synth ...

I vaguely remember A1, but I don't remember it having comb filters.
Those are the only ones that are weak. The rest of the Waldorf ones, and all the others are fine.
