Hello guys, what cable do i need to connect my Jp 8080 to my daw? I bought it second hand and received only the AC power cable. :(

Post

It depends. What connections does your DAW have? Audio interface, USB ... ? Do you need audio or midi or both?

Post

Hi, my interface is the ur22. I would simply like to connect the jp8080 to my daw and use it as an external instrument. Do i need only a midi cable or do i need an audio one as well? Do i need a standard midi cable or do i need a specific one? sry for many questions

Post

A standard midi cable and 1/4" audio cable(s) should be fine. :)

Post

Yep, what thecontrolcentre wrote. Standard MIDI cable for MIDI communication with your DAW, and potential connected MIDI keyboards, or other gear, and 6.35 mm / 1/4 inch audio jack cables for stereo output of the synth, both connected to your audio interface.

Post

ok, last question...when i connect the synth do i need both the midi and the audio cables connected in order for the synth to work properly with the daw?

Post

You need midi (in and out) connected if you want to send and receive midi from the DAW. Midi out from the synth to midi in on the interface. Midi out on the interface connects to midi in on the synth. Audio is self-explanatory (out on the synth to in on the interface).

I don't think so. But, i'd turn on the synth when it is connected, not before that. Maybe even connect it before you turn on, and plug in the audio interface.

ok, thank you a lot guys, i'm new to this stuff but i try to learn every day

No probs. I want a JP-8080 too. :D (Not for those used prices though...)

Yep. Good advice. I always switch on computer first, then any attached hardware, then monitors. Do the opposite when powering down. Always make connections with everything switched off.
