Kontakt Scripts v. Effect VSTs

Hi Everyone,
I am about to pull the trigger on Soniccouture's Scriptorium, as it has some effects that sound very interesting, and the price is right during the current sale (should come out to $12). However, I am wondering if someone can explain to me the relative advantages of scripting some of these effects within Kontakt versus using a separate effect VST (such as Max 4 Live devices, Molekular, etc.) to modify and modulate a Kontakt-based instrument?
Thanks in advance!

The benefit is being able to use them in Kontakt. IMHO, Scriptorium is mostly an educational thing for teaching the ways of the Force as it relates to Kontakt scripting. Definitely well worth the measly price.

There are advantages to using scripts, specifically when it comes to controlling Kontakt, otherwise, probably not much advantage to using an effect thats built into Kontakt, over an external one. As VariKus says, the scripts are not really audio effects, they are instrument examples using the scripted effects. Thinking that they are simply effects you can use in Kontakt is not quite accurate. Each is attached to a 'relatively' simple Soniccouture instrument.
*So yeah, even if you're not interested in messing around with Kontakts innards, you can still play with them.
Much like everything else from those guys, they are quite interesting (albeit older) Kontakt Instruments.

Kontakt scripts control what Kontakt does, ie what samples it plays etc. They dont have any (direct*) effect on the processing of audio at all.bharris22 wrote:But is there an advantage to using scripts instead of audio effects?
(* indirectly, they could be doing something to control Kontakt's built in effects)
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."
