I am developing an application that will translate stylus movements on a graphics tablet to MIDI data. This would allow at least three simultaneous CC-messages to be generated (based on X- and Y-coordinates and stylus pressure). By using the button on the stylus, users can switch between pre-configured sets of CC-messages.
The user can configure the which CCs the tablet movements should be mapped to.
Would my fellow KvR-users be interested in such an app, and if so, are there any features you would like to se implemented?

Well, the first feature request is my own.
By dividing the tablet surface into rows and columns, the application could basically use a virtual matrix of "subtablets", where each cell in the matrix controls a set of CC messages. If the tablet is divided into three rows and three columns, it can control 9 sets of CC parameters.
Hmmm. I think I need to get away from the office and go home to get some interesting programming done.

I have a Wacom tablet, and I'd definitely like to try that. I would suggest that you allow for configurable 'buttons' (say around the edges) as well that can send note-on/off messages or whatever...

Excellent idea, thanks. I should include some editable templates as well then that could be printed and placed underneath the plastic cover of the tablets.whyterabbyt wrote:I have a Wacom tablet, and I'd definitely like to try that. That'll only work if you know what size of tablet folk are using

Well most tablets are either A4, A5 and A6, so three sets of templates should do it. Maybe a template designer-app is the way to go, that way users can design how they want the surface to be divided, and by selecting the size of their tablet, a suitable template can be printed...

Initial support will be for wacom-compatible tablets, but once I get hold of the spec for the Emerald type, I'll see what I can doEmerald Tablet wrote:for a moment you had me worried when i read the title.

I would personally like to have a way to write and edit midi lines/notes on a piano roll grid using my fingers or pen.
Anything around like that?

If you've got a tablet that emulates a mouse (eg wacom), its easy (the 'pen' bit).
