It's the longest "quick start guide" I have ever seen (99 pages), more like a user guide :) Very well laid out!

@wagtunes
I don't know if you have installed any of the updates that have been released before, but for me it worked with the same password (looks more like a serial number) as earlier versions.

I never received a password in the confirmation email. The only thing I got in that email was a license that starts with FATHOM. That's what I tried to use to open this file.

I don't remember if I downloaded and installed any updates since my original purchase. I've been busy doing other things since my problems with the ADSR display.

Problem with zip file is solved.

Wagtunes, I'm glad you were able to resolve that.

People often ask me why the unzip password looks like a serial number.

If you recommend a change of wording to reduce the confusion,
I will update the email template accordingly.

I think just say "Use your serial number" or license number will eliminate a lot of confusion. I'm looking for a password and thinking I'm losing my mind because I can't find one.

So yeah, a change in wording will help a lot.

Try the following. Select a dial knob and hit Add Mod.
In the new Mod Slat hit Select Modulator and select ADSR, Check Button.

Then click and drag the very last point outside the entire plugin GUI.
Drag it as far right on your monitor as it will go, and release it.
Fathom will keep track of the relative distance even if the point is outside its GUI.
Click anywhere in the envelope graph and drag the mouse up to expand the graph.

The release end point should now be somewhere in the third period.
Do this once more and the release length will be almost 6 times longer than the rest.

That's a total of 4 click/drags.

If there's an easier way, please let me know and I will make sure it goes into the next release.

I also realized I could make the maximum view width always a few extra periods
longer than the existing envelope. That would probably make things a lot easier.
Just wanted you to know that I tried this workaround with the latest update and it does in fact bring the entire ADSR into the window. So this is a perfectly acceptable alternative.

So, I'll be diving into this thing again.

How should bug reports be handled should I find anything? Post here or email?

Post

My experience has been that people like to see a problem publicly if it could effect their own work, so yes you can post bugs here directly in the thread.

I use to say email was faster for a crash, but I actually end up reading this thread before my email.

Also, for questions, sometimes I arrive here and find someone else already solved it.

This is a great time to report bugs, there could be more reviews soon, and I'd much rather KVR members find a problem first.

Congrats on the release Everett!
( I was a bit surprised to see the big version jump, expected 1.1 or so based on the 1.0.x progression. )

See you've included all my sent presets, thanks a lot for that. :tu:
Hope people like them as well, in a testtrack of mine several sound excellent together ( organ chord Am6 and FM-Suspense for bass )
I'm terrible with names, very nice to see some have been given much better names.

General discussion:
I like posting any bugs here so others can also try/read it, or maybe prevent multiple people reporting the same thing.

Cheers!

Rob

Dear Fathomsynth-Team, dear Everett,

first of all - All KVRians I wish a nice new years eve and a relaxed 2018 - All the focus to things that count

Just want to say thanks for the Version 2 and congrats to your nice synth! A lot of potential and still many things to come I bet.

Today I would want to address two things
1.) Wavetables-Import:

UPDATE: Damn me - RTFM - Now I know how to load samples into each slot individualy. But I still keep my "Load Sample and Resynth" and a "load folder of single cycles in one go" suggestion up. So the following is partly obsolete

I'm a regular participant in OneSynthChallenges and as such I have fiddled with Wavetables in the resent OSC. If you want you can check out the tracks on my sound cloud page, just to mention one:
https://soundcloud.com/p-e-t-e-r-h/kraf ... -drei-vier

Why do I put this here: It's an example for a track done with Thorn. Thorn has Oscillators pretty similar to Wavetables but in this case additive ones. But Thorn also has a rather good "wavetable" editor, i.e. one that allows you to import single cycle waveforms into each slot individually. This way I was able to make the Thorn Oscillators speak. I just took raw sample of a "word", processed them and cut them into fragments of 512 samples each. Then the sequence of fragments was imported into one slot of one of Thorns Oscs, i.e. the words you hear are really wavetables which are cleverly prepared and scanned thru fragment by fragment with a simple ramp up Env.
Long strory short: I would suggest to add a "sample import" function for the Wavetable Editor Screen. Please check out Thorn which offers such an function, also and even more importand than Thorn please check out Tone2 Icarus - It has some tremendously capable import and resynthesis functions for importing samples into wavetables.
I would love to make your Synth speak or import a good Thron Choir Sample into the Wavetable-Slots!

BTW: What are the specs of one Wavetable, one Wavetable-Slot? Did I get it right from scanning thru a wavetable file coming with Fathom that one wavetable consists of 16 slots with 1024 samples each? Just asking because there's this crazy collection of single-cycles of AdvantureKid and several others which come in different "lenght per singel-cycle" and obviously you should load the right size.
BTW-2: I bet you have a tool for converting single cycles into your wavetable format like this wav2zebra tool, do you ;-)

2.) OneSynthChallenge with Fathom
I suggested to make your gem the synth of one of the following OneSynthChallenges. There was not to much feedback for my suggestion from the Challenges community. Anyway - If you think it's a valuable channel to give your synth a ride, you might contact KVRian "bjporter" by PM and talk with him. He is the Organizer and indispensable for keeping everything up and running...

The developer of Thorn for instance provided us with free one month only licenses for just the One Synth Challenge.
What is in for you? I think it's the word about Fathom spreads and you might get a bunch of pretty good demo songs as well as a bunch of presets. Please check out the OSC-Page, I think you can find a lot of stuff there: https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/osc-105-thorn

Examples for the Songs that where created
OSC#104: Zebralette, a Wavetable-like free Synth of U-HE: https://soundcloud.com/kvrosc/sets/one- ... llenge-104
OSC#105: Thorn of Dmtry Sches: https://soundcloud.com/kvrosc/sets/one- ... -105-thorn

Post

Ha! Funny enough, Fathom can talk!

Check out the Fathom Preset that I have attached to this post. Please Unzip it to the "User" Program-Folder and load it into Fathom.
It's the german word for the number "one", which is "eins". I was able to use the prepared fragments from my Thorn track which I mentioned in my post earlier today...Please play midi note C2 to get a not-mikey-mouse result. Wavetable stuff is simply too much fun if you know how to deal with them :D

@Everett: Potential Bug - I can load a sample fragment into wavetable slot 0, but it will always be reseted to a saw waveform. And loading slot by slot is realy tedious task...probably you can put something on your feature list to improve it...see post above.
