The best way is to do all the stuff possible and call it "experimental". I see many producers doing this and some of them even succeed. Then again, what they call "experimental" has been recorded by Depeche Mode nearly 40 years ago. :D

Conclusion: Again, do your stuff but don't choose not to choose. If you don't have any genre in mind, just create one (literally: 1 ) style so that listening to your pieces will give more or less obvious clue that there is one person standing behind all this music. It doesn't have to have anything to a specific genre but it has a lot to do with common sense.
With great sound comes great power.

And just where do you think all my drugs would come from, then..?

Ok, every ten/twenty times I post in this thread, I will give a hint of real advice;

Make tracks assuming only you will ever hear them.
That can sound depressing, and it is, at least after the track is done, but in the moment, thinking of others' judgment is no good at all. Useless, unless your goal is to be a 'content creator' and that judgment is all you seek. If thats you, youve got it easy. :wink:

Just make the music.

Maybe you need a ... context for your music. For example you could try to write some music for your favourite computer game or you could contact some indie game developers.

Or maybe you just love to tweak the knobs, move sliders - then drop making music and start synth programming :)

You just need to buy one more vst.
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

No, just buy Rapid Composer and Band in a Box, they'll write the music for you.

BTW, the OPs last response was a year and a half ago, do you guys think he's still following this thread with a baited breath, then seriously considering every suggestion in long, sleepless nights?
