(Sigh..!) Some people seems to be deliberately gunning for this synth to slam it where-ever they can! :(
I noticed this too. And this wouldn't be the first Sugar Bytes creation that this happened.
Believe me, I've tried to like this synth. I'm a fan of SugarBytes stuff in general, but there's something about the sound of this one that's irritating me. The lack of aftertouch, considering this is a "soundscape" synth is disappointing too.
Oh, that’s a shame to hear. I was all set to demo it after next week (kid is home which makes studio time nearly impossible). I rely heavily on aftertouch and to be honest, I’m really looking for synths that are MPE compatable. I can kind of see why aftertouch isn’t that important on a synth like Aparillo, but still, it’s part of the MIDI standard so put it in. I’ve never heard a complaint where someone said, “I love this synth, but it’s got the ability to respond to aftertouch, so no thanks,”

I’ll also add that since I’ve moved to Bitwig from Live, a synth not having aftertouch isn’t a big issue. Bitwig makes all plugins have aftertouch (as well as the usual suspects and lots of LFO and EG types of modulation)

I'm pretty sure rico has said aftertouch will be added :)

Really liking this synth... as others have pointed out, keep FM modulation amounts low to avoid the harsh 'FM rasp'. You can do a lot with different ratios and small mod amounts, especially when these are modulated by envs/LFOs.

There's really a lot of cool functions in this thing which create interesting timbres.. the waveshaping part is probably my favourite - the Formant and Shaper toggles for each operator create a lot of variation.

And on that note - I really wish the 'Fold' param was a proper modulatable parameter like others... this would open up a lot of cool sounds!

Also wish it was possible to have multiple mod sources for params - couldn't find a way of doing this so far.

Another hint for the Init patch - even after turning off the Formant toggle for the waveshaping, it still is not a full 'init' - there is some panning active.. pull down the Panner Width control to zero in the FX page :tu:

i think, obvious from it's initial design for ios, that aftertouch (and perhaps other fixes) will come, since this is now first a mac/pc app. anyway, am using it a lot, and look forward to it becoming more of what it is....

Too much flexibility can be a huge burden. What I love about Aparillo is how it lets me experiment while I get in and get out. The simplicity of it, with just the right combination of modulations and the ability to morph between those modulations, is what makes it so wonderfully original.

you get the point :) plus a bit of westcoast mindset, where man and machine are symbiotic, creating something new together.

Sounds good to me, this is always what I look for most

I really like Aparillo very much. As it was already mentioned: it makes fun to play with it while exploring the functions, and it is deep enough to shape stunning sounds! I also like the approach on how to get movement into the sound. Aparillo offers several ways for it, which are not in "every synth": a (user)scale-based arpeggiator, which is capable of delivering some slightly weird but cool results (eg. threshold or collision mode, using scales is something i´d wish for every synth), modulation filters (like all, even odd, third...), and orbit. In addition, the UI transports these functions in a very clear way, although I was a bit confused in the beginning.
In general, it doesn´t ultimately invent new standards, but some parts are very well concepted, some parts are a bit neglected compared to other synths (perhaps in order to maintain a level of simplicity while using it).

Yap, the last Patch is great! And it is really not true, that you only get "unmusical" results out of Aparillo, despite some weird demos on Youtube. I just bounced a Berber-like Patch (as I imagine :) ) with quick automations, I like it so much how the arp-notes start "overlapping" after a while (and it´s triolic and without Orbit).

1/ About that e-mail adress: it *is* available on the site: https://sugar-bytes.de/privacy-policy
Besides: companies typically have a support @companyname.extension
2/ If you do not want bots to be able to copy the adress, add it written on a jpg. The only thing people must do is type it themselves.

This said: After the Kaivo offer, I was not going to buy anything anymore, but this is an exception to that rule. It is exactly what makes my eyes light up ... no weeks of study needed and well documented (great video tuts on YT)

cheers, and a happy and fulfilling 2018 to everyone! Lots of inspiration and exciting new toys.

I was going to ask where software synths can go next...

and I think this sort of answered my question, certainly with the interface!

What an inspiring piece of software!

I think a level control needs to be prominent on every page,
or create a master-level control that is always visible outside
the various pages.
And some better levels normaliztion of the presets, as tedious
as it may be, is needed. 'Sonic fear' is not a huge selling point
Especially on a synth that invites experimentation, and being a new jewel,
in both age and capability, is still quite an unknown quantity.
Cheers
