My doctor and my financial advisor are telling me that I have to control my Gear Addiction Syndrome. They propose not to buy any instrument till Black Friday.

That would mean more than ten months no investments in shiny new things... And I would have to concentrate my music production on the instruments I have (some of them using intensively the first time).

OMG! How can I escape this reasonable proposal?
:o

1. Unplug internet (no email, KVR, Facebook, Youtube, etc).
2. Lock the front door and don't go out
3. Don't watch TV
4. Don't talk to any musician friends

I think this would do the trick :hihi:
Win 10 -64bit, CPU i7-7700K, 32Gb, Focusrite 2i2, FL-studio 20, Studio One 4, Reason 10

You meant the NAMM, right ?

Anyways, here's a good quote from Jarre about all that stuff :
In days where you have so many products on the market [...] instead of having this mad quest about being scared of missing something, try to just... breathe... take a break, and think about what instruments - a plugin, a module, a polyphonic synth... whatever - where you feel a kind of empathy with [...] and then when you choose that, just stay focused for six months or one year only on this. Don't take anything else. Just on one element and try to express yourself because what's going to be unique is yourself. It's not the machine. It's not the instrument. It's what you are going to do with it which has the value, and nothing else. And then instead of being fully into the trap of being an archivist of presets, where you don't know where you are, you lose your identity. The best way to create something interesting is express your identity - to develop it - and the only way to do it is to focus on one instrument, whatever it is. [...] Even if you're wrong in your choice, the fact that you choose is more important than anything else.

Just found that there is a website called www.gas-control.de and what is funny is that the company is located in my hometown... :o

I wouldn't even attempt a resolution like this. My goal for this year is to keep spending to under $5,000. If I can do that, it'll be a moral victory.

Is Gear Addiction Syndrome distinct from Gear Acquisition Syndrome? I guess you meant the latter...or maybe Gear Acquisition Addiction Syndrome (GAAS)...but you might as well just shorten that to Gear Acquisition Addiction (GAA) :hihi:

Spend it all on tutorials and courses instead, technically not gear :)
