Can someone please help me. I'm trying to buy my own product to test the Pay Pal process and when I click on "Buy" it says "Buying" and absolutely nothing happens?

What am I missing?

Yes, it is still $5.00 here on KVR Marketplace, I'm looking at the sale picture right now to the right of this thread. This is a New Years sale, one day only, for today.

However, I am trying to buy the product myself to test the Pay Pal delay and it says "Buying" but nothing happens. Can someone experienced here on KVR recommend a solution?

FathomSynth wrote:Peter, Yes that is correct. You can import any size and the raw data is converted to 1024 samples per cycle. But internally the engine runs the FFT on the 1024 samples and when it assembles the partial sin waves it uses a final buffer of 16384 samples internally for playback.

The reason the xml file save is 1024 is to reduce the size of the XML and since the GUI wave draw is 1024 x 512 there is no point to storing a higher resolution.

However, if you would like imported waveforms to be stored at a higher resolution, I can easily do that, just let me know.
The storing in higher resolution is I'd say up to you. I just want to make sure that I understand what is going on. One more question about the 1024 entries in the file. This is actually "PCM samples" not "FFT partials", right? Probably some talented artist here is also a programmer and can build a little "sample to Fathom wavetable" tool?

About the samples per cycle: If you look into Tone2 Icarus, those guys use 2048 samples per Slot. What is really funny - they have a mode, where one key on the keyboard actually addresses exactly one slot and the slots are fired one shot. This way they have added the posibility to have drum sets, i.e. C2 addresses the bassrum slot and so forth...pretty neat idea.

And by the way, if you want, here's another preset - I used 1024 samples snippet of Tron Choir, Flute and String Section and build something rhytmically...

Here's a Bassdrum Patch with a.) a Thump part and b.) a pitched Sine for the body.
Most interesting is that you can have the thump rather broad spread by the detune and still have the body mono.
Have fun

Worked fine for me...eventually. KVR sent an invoice to my yahoo account that directed me to PayPal for payment. PayPal took my money and sent me a receipt. So far...so good.

Does this do microtuning?

@ peter H

Cool presets. can you upload those to the Fathom kvr product page as well? Just to make it easier for future folk.

I have really enjoyed playing with this so far. Great sound and many possibilities.

Question regarding the CPU Usage: on one bass patch I have open, I am seeing CPU usage within the plugin at around 15-20%. However, when I close the GUI and just look at the performance meter, it is way lower (like 3%). I tested running 6 more instances of it and had no issue (with usage around 25%). Is the GUI that taxing? I am running with a pretty good graphics card.

Thanks!

Also, if you are getting cracking and popping, there is a bug, something else is going on. It should NEVER pop, it will just subtract voices if you run out of CPU, but not pop or click.

Please send me your stats, OS and host, I think you have a bug, and I will resolve it for you.

Braj, That being said, you are for sure right about what you say in expecting more horse power! I will move the Vector Processing Optimization to the head of the list, since I know this is the one big weakness of Fathom!

I just want to thank everyone who has recently purchased. I take user suggestions very seriously! And with your help, I am determined to make this your perfect synth!
Well, as soon as I add an OSC, a filter, and one modulator, I hit 5% on my i7 3440 Reaper 5 Win 10 system. This is comparable to Repro, even a bit more CPU. But other times it may go down to 1.5%, it seems to jump around a lot, and the pops (or dropouts in sound) seem to happen most when moving controls and modulating things.

I do need to spend more time with it, just the CPU use wasn't encouraging so far. It doesn't seem I made anything very complex before seeing the CPU use climb.

Hey Everett,

I just purchased through kvr market place via Paypal. According to kvr's disclaimer I am waiting for an invoice to show up in my Paypal acct from KVR. Then I guess I approve the invoice when it shows up. Not real sure. KVR says they will solve this in a future update. I can definitely see this being frustrating for those folks used to Paypal and imediate results. KVR should fix that asap IMHO.

I've made a conscious decision to not buy any more synths but i couldn't really ignore this while it's at such an insane price. Download speed from KVR is seriously slow but no worries, I'm at work on my crappy laptop so can't use it straight away.

So without reading the whole thread, is there any user presets/skins etc worth checking out? Or are they all included in the installer?

Post

LOL, mutantdog, oh how many times have I made that exact same decision. And then "The Legend" or "Spire" gets released.

The download zip has everything, also check out Scrubbing Monkeys Fathom resource page, he has some cool presets and wave tables on there I think. A new skin is planned for 2018 but nothing yet.

Sorry for the PayPal delay, but there's nothing I can do. Use PayPal at your own risk. I put a warning at the top of the product page so people know, it is caused by some deep legal reason inside PayPal and its not caused by Fathom or KVR in any way.

bryemye, yes the GUI chews up some CPU with the fancy spectrum graph in the center and if you have the Wave Table oscillator displayed. It has been a while since I checked the CPU load from those graphs but I'm not surprised. Try turning off the center displays on the main panel (there is a dial for it) and see if that helps.

CPU is Fathom's one weakness and I plan on spending some serious time on that this year.

Ah, this makes sense. Not a huge issue really, but may be useful for people who feel like they are seeing excessively high CPU usage.
