Wow, 24 hours without buying something!
Therapy is brutal:
NO visit of the Bargain section, the marketplace etc...
I even started reading a so called good book.
Tomorrow I‘ll set up a new album project to keep me distracted from all these temping sales and bargains.
What a crazy trip!

I watched a music production video series from a prestigious music school before I had acquired much hardware/software. In one of the videos the instructor says something like "you only need one good synth." For some reason, that has stuck with me, but hasn't sunk in.
I wonder what kind of shape the industry would be in if people really took that advice?

My wife asked me last night, "so, is buying synthesizers for you like me buying shoes?" I said, "yes, dear, just like that."

^^^What a great idea: Gear to control GAS! I could use a pressure relief valve....Ingonator wrote:Just found that there is a website called http://www.gas-control.de

That would mean more than ten months no investments in shiny new things... And I would have to concentrate my music production on the instruments I have (some of them using intensively the first time).
OMG! How can I escape this reasonable proposal?
Your doctor is an idiot, cold turkey almost never works. All you need is this thread.

Too late now. Where were you when I needed you? Besides, I regularly see you in the Bargain Center thread.ghettosynth wrote:Your doctor is an idiot, cold turkey almost never works. All you need is this thread.

Well, that's the point, no? We all have urges, we just need some help controlling them sometimes. That thread is the rational counterpoint to the bargain thread. Well, mostly anywaytelecharge wrote:Too late now. Where were you when I needed you? I believe that the more music you make, the less GAS you have! This is the best way also to know if you really need that synth!
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

You could head over to NI and splurge daily on all the free ensembles for Reaktor...downloading and trying them out will take you all the way to Black Friday, plus satisfy the urge for new synths. And you wouldn’t have to spend a dime. Maybe.

Another way could be to open iZotope website every time you feel the urge to buy something. The prices there will be a guaranteed turn off and it will help you to change your mind
