Deal expiring in around 3 hrs.

It's preposterous. Every known thing, and as far as I've examined it seriously articulated.
I mean nearly VSL kind of articulated: strings are bowed legato, fingered legato 'slurred' and portamento; multiple length pizz and... I don't have time to type a lot but it is majorly articulated.

Then the percussion is deeply sampled, the same. But the deal is 99 pound until a little bit later today. http://vstbuzz.com/deals/90-off-orchest ... ia-sounds/

I'll need a whole new hard drive to even download it onto. It's not that gigantic a size for being the whole damned orchestra and half of 'em's first and second cousins, I mean Berlin Strings is 115GB but this is a 100GB monstrosity (download size). And the GUI is NICE looking. Kontakt instruments. Spoke too soon, it's strings, strings, percussion, keys and 'ethnic'.

WTF! I don't know if I've ever heard of any of this. Is it a scam? Have they illegally done some shit? I don't know. But it's a kind of nice presentation for an insane amount of deep sampling supposedly for 99 pound.

I took a close look at it but the lack of woodwinds and brass made me take a pass. I like the instruments to blend like they were recorded by the same mics in the same place and having to use other libraries to get the whole orchestra would make blending a bit difficult . If I could trade the pianos and organs for some woodwinds and brass I'd be all over it. For someone who wanted only what they offered it is a great value in my opinion.

Hmmm... yeah, it begins to look like it's collected from various sources, is why I said 'are they doing' something illegal'. It may be worth it for the strings. I do not like dealing with say Spitfire's room and now Berlin's room vs the next developer's room and it makes me simply prefer not to (buy), in fact I've been sticking with the VSL dry stage for any orch stuff.

I don't want the ethnic stuff particularly, I'd buy from boutique devs, I have the Bansuri from Impact which is excellent.

Thanks for your input. I have not looked at the rooms factor other than noticing multiple mic placement for percussion there. I have a couple of things which are all about the room except you can choose not to deal in it at all.

I have the Komplete Ultimate and I subscribe to East West composer cloud. If I didn't have a good string library or orchestral percussion this would be a no brainer.

I don't have strings really on this system. I have the cut-down [Epic Orchestra] Appassionata Strings comes with VE Pro and that's it. I have some old hard drives with strings...

It looks good, I think 99 for just the LSS Solo Strings is a happening deal. I think Ima pull the trigger on it and be picky about it later. 100GB is too much here.

thanks for your input, again.

VST Buzz is legal. And I have gotten several things from them. They are similar to audioplugin.deals. They work a deal with a vendor on slow selling, or older products, that are still good, but just don't get mass attention.

It brings attention to the vendor and everyone benefits.

Good stuff all around. Keep watch on that site and audioplugin.deals.

It looks like the libraries are a bit older (as @thejonsolo suggested), as they're made for Kontakt 4 (and above). They won't have Kontakt 5's scripting ability, but many of us don't take full advantage of that, anyway.

According to the LSS page, the samples are 24-bit/48 kHz; the "Solo" strings library doesn't list sample rate or bit depth. For the Silk Piano, the library is 24-bit/96 kHz. Others don't list sample rate or bit depth, though many appear to have multiple samples per note and/or several articulations per instrument.

Seems like a pretty good value, I'd say.

Yes, VSTBuzz is legit.

I have the Aria Sounds female choir, and it's quite good IMO.
A well-behaved signature.

Well, as to scripting capacity, there isn't much use for it for a strings library. The selling point for me was having the difference between bowed and slurred legato, a must, and the multiple shorts (ie., if their assertion holds true many more than most). Fortunately the download links are for the individual things in it so I'm not going to have to deal with useless downloads, wasted time and deletion.

Aha. I have this general recall of London-something Strings which I think this is an updated version of. That originally will have been a Kontakt 2 instrument.

Yeah, that's the one. It was well-articulated then, I'm not sure why I didn't like the looks of the thing.

saw that

yeah, some opinions. not swayed either way...
I checked out the walkthrough video. the legato differences are convincing. I think the person doing 'em was doing live mod wheel expression which jumped in spots, a little.
Oddly, the date of publication of the video is 2016. I don't think a Kontakt 2 library had this.

As to 'Kontakt 4' if I had issues with the legato such as reported at VI Control I have the Big Bob scripts which would work. But it doesn't appear to. The legatos in the walkthrough were as advertised.

The original actually dates back to GigaSAMPLER which is ancient history so it was Kontakt 2 which was the update I recall. It will have to have had something like VSL Performance Tool to do all this back in the GigaSTUDIO era, Gigasampler may have had that kind of, well, scripting but I'd have to look it up. So I don't think it's even the same product today.

I checked it out and the sale is still on. I guess it was extended. I just picked up the SWAM Strings bundle on Black Friday weekend for 20% off, so I'm covered for solo strings. For a section I'll wait for next Black Friday and see if Spitfire Chamber Strings goes on sale again. I don't really need the other instruments and likely wouldn't use them much if at all.

Post

For chamber I'd def. go with VSL. Spitfire just not my thing.

This bundle has symphonic strings, same orch. So that's a couple of things. There is a big organ and some special semi-harpsichord, neither of which I examined closely.

Don't care about the toms, I am covered there, or the rest of the perc really. But for someone that does not have these, they look very good so I think the bundle is a bargain still.
