I can't believe some of you whiners complaining about the price. Just sell your car and buy yourself a bicycle. If you own two cars that's even better, then you'll be able to afford the complete system and fill up all 3 racks.

I'm fairly new to modulars, and mainly software modulars at that. I can't make heads or tails out of some of those Buchla modules. They certainly don't look like the typical Moog/Doepfer/dotcom modules. It all sure looks like a hell of a lot of fun though.

But what you get for the money is obviously the first patchable analog modular system that can store presets.
I have no idea how this should work, but that's how I understand it:

Or did I misunderstand?

"... I regained consciousness in a bathtub full of ICE -- with over thirty new stitches across my abdomen! A note on the table next to me said that my Buchla would be delivered as soon as the kidney was sold on the black market." =8-O

Then you haven't seen this most famous picture yet, I guess:Joxer the Mighty wrote:I can't make heads or tails out of some of those Buchla modules. They certainly don't look like the typical Moog/Doepfer/dotcom modules. It all sure looks like a hell of a lot of fun though.

Yep, it definitely stores patches, 50 of them. Not sure how it works, but that in itself is quite an accomplishment.

I will say this. Even though I do store patches with my Moog Modular V, I like changing patches on the fly when I jam. Wonder if I can automate that. Should tryRobert Randolph wrote:how can you store presets if you have to patch stuff? haha

I love the names of some of his modules. "Source of Uncertainty" is great. Not only is it kind of Cage-like, it also reminds me of the wonderful phrase "entropy harvesting" (which, if I understand correctly, refers to a way to get good seeds for pseudo-random number generators in computers running the FreeBSD operating system).
