Its true that magix having this many daws seems counterintuitive but It might not be, hear me out.
I recently took the plunge into the world of samplitude and I can confidently say samplitude is great for many things but EDM Is not one of them. I tried to make a future bass track in it and it was so slow (for me at least, if someone out there is making edm in samplitude all the power to you) anyway to me samplitude is more of a super powerful program for mixing, audio editing, and recording. While acid from what I’ve read and seen has and always had its roots in electronic music production.
Samplitude is like Protools and acid is like live. They both have different userbases they are trying to work at so I don’t think they will be canabalising the sales of the other too much. Infact it might be a great decision on Magixs part, we will have to see.

Also I don’t think magix is killing off samplitude Anytime soon. I don’t see why they would. And if they were why ditch it for acid of all things. I Will admit the 150$ super sale was Bizzare however...
Buuuut at the same time that’s how I became a user of their software so perhaps a no brainer deal to get new users was their whole master plan :hihi:
The post above this is likely bait, viewer discretion is advised.

I think the ProTools/Nuendo competitor in their portfolio is Sequoia:

If Samplitude is lacking in the writing/production department, that's more indicative of gaps in Samplitude than deliberate product positioning decisions, I think.

I do want to like Magix, but they made the previous owner of yellowtools their Manager for the entire music production division a few years back. And even though the Independence sampler had some stunning instruments on offer, the installation and product activation process were beyond horrific. The usability decisions and reliability were terrible, too. And since I don't click with Acid in its current incarnation, I don't expect I'll like what's coming.

this^^^^ and why I said he hasn't tried Samplitude but then he could be referring to the lesser versions of Samp and not ProX3

I got the survey as well, here's the proposed look of ACID PRO 8. (sorry bad pic)

Really Curious to see this proposed GUI.
I thought Being a Magix customer I would get one but to no avail. Probably they just sent them to acid users, Makes sense I suppose.

sorry, mistaken post...

it looks the same but darker gui. and there seem to be some sort of arrangement 'block' at the top.. it's far to dim and blurry to make a comment on it though.

Face GUI.

I'll most definitely buy the next Acid Pro if it's 64-bit, has better splitting and clip stretching, and has a much better quantize feature. Those are really the only things I missed from Acid Pro 7. I might even re-install that this evening. The workflow of Acid, for me, has not been matched by any other software I have tried.

Post

It will be 64 bit.

I still have some old Acid libraries that I still like to pull out sometimes. One is called "Liquid Planet" by Robert Rich, and the other is "Rapoon" by Robin Storey. These are libraries approaching 19 years old! I don't think I've used them in Acid since the early 2000's, though.
Win 10 | Ableton Live 11 Suite | Reason 13 | i7 3770 @ 3.5 Ghz | 16 GB RAM | RME Babyface Pro| Akai MPC Live 3 & Akai Force | Roland System 8 | Roland TB-3 | Roland MX-1 | Dreadbox Typhon | Korg Minilogue XD

I always meant to pick up the Bill Laswell Acid libraries. Sony really dropped the ball with Acid, for a while in the mid 00's so many people were using it and they just halted meaningful development.

Is pianoroll gonna get update? IIRC acid pianoroll was in the track lane.

i am one of the poor souls who would loiter around acid planet and sony's 'user forum' hoping for the next incarnation of acid, esp. with vst support etc. but it's well know that sony basically just let it fade away and the vst support made it really unreliable as opposed to not having one crash in previous form.. and it's been a long time since v.7 which is the last that i own.
it has been superceded in every way, it's core appeal, on the fly pitch editing etc. is in every daw you buy these days. and much as i have always had a fondness for it, i don't see any reason to start down that road again particularly based on a nostalgia for something that was the dog's nads ten years ago.. acid is dead, long live acid : )
i can only imagine that magix incorporate it into their 'music maker' apps.
there is nothing that SAM doesn't have now, if anything they should be developing the midi aspects which are still lacking. so i can't see a place for acid in future.
i hope i am proven wrong though : )

Very, excited about the email i received yesterday about Pro 8, cant wait to Beta test this. Being one of the old members on the old Sony forum and having many previous version of the Acid program. This gets me excited beyond anything, knowing it will be 64 bit is even better. My current Pro 7 SUCKS! I cannot use my double screens, i have to minimize the DAW and and separate windows just for it to work. In a perfect world would hope for a possible conversion of old Acid Pro 7 files to work with 8, but if not...it wont be end of the world. This news came at a time when i was on the verge of moving over to Logic and Mac.... Hoping for possible 3rd party VST and better VST to be added as well. oh what a time for Acid to come back...CANT WAIT! This hindered much of my production for some years when Sony dropped the ball!
