IMO the one that should be mentioned here is Fathomsynth. The normal price of $45,00 is ridicilously low for what it offers.
And now it's on sale this week for $9,-

Why didn't you include SynthMaster 2.9 ? After we introduced the wavetable features it's now way more powerful and can do a lot more then SynthMaster One.egbert101 wrote:Interested in how people percieve value. Are we all rational consumers who look for the best possible deal, or are we hopeless gear junkies who will buy stuff that makes us feel better?.
Works at KV331 Audio
SynthMaster voted #1 in MusicRadar's "Best Synth of 2019" poll
SynthMaster One voted #4 in MusicRadar's "Best Synth of 2019" poll

For me, those three are all worth it, I mean... $49? It's the nice-price.egbert101 wrote:Iris 2 is $49.00 too. Question mark over future development. Even at those prices are they worth it? Or do they represent value? Which is the current best? (given those listed above).Examigan wrote:Spectral and CrX4 for $49 a piece. Not developed anymore, but they are still nice synths.
Picking up M1 and Wavestation for $25 a piece was my best buy. I just wish they would enlarge the displays.

I really would like to add that but i still can´t like the GUI.braj wrote:So hey, what about Synthmaster 2.9?
They made a great GUI´s for iOS and i wonder why it seems still so hard to make great looking and sharp GUI´s for desktops/notebooks.
Since GUI´s and workflow for me is as important as the sound itself in 2018.
All synths sounds great or more than great these days but the GUI´s are still 2000 sometimes.

My picks:
- Reaktor 6 - it's mind-boggling already for what you get at $199 and it gets further from there when you go to the user library
- Arturia AnalogLab 3.0 - technically not a synth, but 6k+ presets that are fairly tweakable and come from 21 instruments for $99 is a good deal, IMO

Yes, that's my dilemma with Synthmaster as well - I can't get past the GUICinebient wrote:I really would like to add that but i still can´t like the GUI.braj wrote:So hey, what about Synthmaster 2.9?

I feel I'm usually pretty rational, but I occasionally purchase a pick-me-up. Don't we all?egbert101 wrote:Interested in how people percieve value. Are we all rational consumers who look for the best possible deal, or are we hopeless gear junkies who will buy stuff that makes us feel better?
So name your best value commercial software synth.![]()
Strictly from a value perspective, and my own use case, Iris 2 has been the best value for me. It seems to be dead in the water development-wise, but it sounds great, and I find it to be very versatile. I also appreciate all the modulation possibilities, and the 11 GB of included content.
Yes, it has its shortcomings, but for $49, it's the best value I've come across for a single plug-in, plus it runs standalone. AIEP 2 has been my best value for a synth collection.

I agree that time spent using a synth is another factor for value. But they do tend to equalize in value if you spend very little on something you don't use often.wagtunes wrote:For me it's simple. The synths I use the most are the ones that give me the best value. If I spend $25 on a synth but hardly ever use it then it has little value. But if I spend $500 on a synth and use it almost all the time then it has great value.
Also, if you spend very little and use it a lot, it's value is greatly increased. But then, we're now into the realm of personal use rather than any objective quantifying of actual value (if there is ever such a thing).

NOTE: I will close this thread soon, as my question was answered (See my original post) but will leave time for others to give their final word on the matter.

But the subscription was not free, or?chk071 wrote:My best value synth is Spire, which i got completely free with a Beat mag 1 year subscription.
But i also don´t see value in price.
Otherwise it would be simple and all free tools and my iOS synths have more value than all my plug-ins i bought ever.
