My family is very musical, our Christmas gatherings sound a bit like this...sort of...

Not exactly. My family isn't known for being a particularly musical one - you could say I'm the first in the bloodline to take such a passionate interest in music. Although my mother told me the other day that a cousin of my father's is a professional musician who has played in Leningrad Cowboys, among some other musical acts.
My solo projects:
Hekkräiser (experimental) | MFG38 (electronic/soundtrack) | The Santtu Pesonen Project (metal/prog)

Not at all.

So everytime I buy music making gear, I got the facepalm treatment. :dog:

Like, stop wasting your money on useless stuff blah blah blah.

My great, great, great grandfather twice removed played with The Beach Boys.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Father played the accordion. One of the, perhaps, three good things I can say he did for me was to teach me to read music when I was learning to read 'Fun With Dick And Jane.' I could play some Xmas carols and marches on his accordion, which was bigger than I was at that age.

When the Beatles hit the Ed Sullivan show, my older brother picked up the guitar. Since he was my 'hero,' I followed 10 years later, although I went from accordion at 6-7 to the organ at around 9. Guitar at 14.

My mother could play one ditty on the piano: "I like coffee, I like tea, I like the boys, and they like me."

So, certainly a bit of music there, but not like some I see here.
