With the chord Entry/Edit it would be quicker if when you move the cursor left/right it would edit/change the chord that is highlighted. Unless it's in the settings ??

Hi I'm trying to understand how to use the voicing editor with a custom chord. Or really just get the voicing that I want (I don't care if I use the voicing editor). Here's what I'm doing...

1. I create my custom chord – I call it "2-for-1" and have selected D-E-G in the chord editor
2. I drag it to the master track to set the chord
3. I drag a chord generator to the track, it correctly places notes on D-E-G
4. I drag the phrase up and down, it correctly transposes. Now I want to do an open voicing...
5. I right-click the phrase, choose "Edit Voicing...". I de-select the third in C4 and select the third in C5. The phrase now has notes D-G-E, which is exactly what I want
6. I drag the phrase up and down, but it doesn't transpose the way I want. I would expect the phrase transpose +1 position to have E-D-G but it completely skips that transposition and does G-E-D – which I would expect to be the phrase transpose +2 position

Am I misunderstanding how the voicing editor works? Or is it perhaps a bug? I know the voicing editor is new.

I don't know. I recreated the chord and it looks OK to me with the open voicing:



I think I know what you mean by that it should be E-D-G when you move up. If you mean it should be E4-D5-G5, that is a different voicing. You removed E4 (denoted as 3) from the voicing and moved one octave above:



So E4 is not in the chord at all...
BTW I did not know that you could define chords without the root note. I did not expect that it would work, but it does

Okay, how do I set up the chord voicing to achieve what I want to achieve? I can do it right now with the octave transpose transformation, but that's an extra step that I'd rather not do.

Here's how I can, with extra work, accomplish what I want:

1. Define a voicing as C4-G4-E5, as you've shown
2. Move the phrase into the second transposition, so it's E5-D6-G6
3. Apply a -1 octave transpose variation to get E4-D5-G5

Basically it should go:

1-5-3
3-1-5
5-3-1

and so on

You can see it's essentially "1-5-3" rotated. How can I set that up?

You can build a phrase with voicing. Open the phrase that you use (in this case I used a Chord Generator), and select all E4 notes, add an octave to all notes in the note inspector:



It will transpose like this:



Setting up a voicing anywhere involves removing and duplicating chord notes. This affects transposition, sometimes in a complex way.

The chord picker moves now when you click on another chord, but I meant to move it using the cursor keys so when the blue selector moves from bar to bar with the left/right cursor keys the picker window will follow.

Also I need to create up a track with all the available chords in RC from C up Cm Csus2 C7 Cm7b5.......
I can then just transpose the track for the other 11 sets.
I can't find the window anymore that had all the chord types in.
This way I can also create up a track in Reaper or an other DAW then import the chord track into RC to create the virtual instrument tracks.

I know. At the moment if you have not got the necessary vertical space you need to exclude one or two less important items in "Quick Suggestions" by clicking on the small icon at the top right corner.

I notice that chord preview when set preview selected phrase in composition sound diffrent because the velocites of the selectet phrase are ignore. you can change in a chord generator 1 quarter note to low velocity other notes to higher velocity. chord preview play always full velocity. you can hear with the sf2 gm piano.because pads and other use diffrent filter setting depend on velocity of notes, it is usefull when the phrase is preview with same velocities. is this possible change and hopefully not much work ?

"Velocity ignore" part valid also when you preview phrases from Phrase Browser.
when previewing phrases , sounds like 200 % Expression applied ..

With the quick chord entry, you click on a chord, start typing and it goes in, as you move the keyboard cursor right or left that chord is entered without having to click the little keyboard icon, type the chord name and then hit enter every time.
