Hotmail spyware warning

Everytime I open my Hotmail the last few days I get a warning from Spybot that something called "Avenue A, inc" is trying to install itself on my computer and that it's a "known threat" and asking if I want to block it. Problem is it comes up again and again each time I open a mail or change folders. Anyone else getting this? If so what is it and is there a way to prevent this once and for all rather than having to click yes or no everytime I open an email. If it's something Microsoft are inflicting on us surreptitiously we should send in our complaints - its only because Spybot picks it up I know about this spyware being installed by their pages at all.

Hotmail inbox almost instantly, now take some
time .

eg. registrations , eBay bidding confirmations and
receits for online purchases .

Try sending your self an email to your Hotmail
acount and see how long it takes to come back

It has a memory resident component that alerts you. It just gave me that option when I set it up on install - maybe look in the options or something.

The function is called TeaTimer, which you can choose to enable during installation. I don't know if you can enable/install it after spybot has already been installed.

The documentation says that the TeaTimer using about 5Mb of RAM. I've got 1Gb of RAM with the TeaTimer running and never miss that 5Mb.

For more information about TeaTimer, set spybot to Advanced mode (from the Mode section of the menubar) then select Tools.

I have hotmail and spybot tea-timer running constantly in the background (Win XP Pro) but do not get any spy alerts. Do you have an AV prog running? Just a thought but it may be a virus.

hotmail itself is essentially server side spyware. microsoft has been on a crusade to gather personal info on people and hotmail is one of the ways they do it.

mabey they have been curbed recently, i don't know. I still will never trust hotmail or microsoft. It's not enough for them to make billions and billions selling software, they have to gather and sell personal info too !!!!

They seem to think I'm a hermaphrodite in need of anatomical enlargement EVERYwhere... who expects to be given several tens of thousands of dollars of consumer electronics goods daily... and whose hobby is watching celebrities and/or parents and offspring doing things that aren't legal in most of the United States.
