Hi. I am new to the forum. It's because a friend of mine recommend me here. So I have a question. For give me if my post came to the wrong topic. But I watch over and over entirely forum and hope this is the most fit topic
I am senior student at a college and after 1 year of saving money. I want to buy a new bluetooth (or wireless) speaker on my own. I don't know how to it to be a good speaker, but
I need something that has over-medium sound quality. That's enough for me, because i realize i can't distinguish good sound quality vs very good sound quality. Instead, long battery life will be great for me cause I need it for my partime job. Connection range also is important factor too. And the most important , my budget is just below $100.
Can you suggest me 1 or 2 options for me please. I am living in a developing country so this $100 is very big for me, I hope I'll have a right decision

No worries, your English is fine...

But why especially wireless / bluetooth? What exactly are you going to connect it to? An iPad, tablet, phone, or a laptop? Or is it just "battery powered" that's really necessary for you? What are you going to use it for? Producing music at home, or busking (playing) on the street? Does it need to be a stereo set?

I ask this because on a low budget these criteria comes with compromises. Last year I bought a bluetooth receiver. I was a rather good one, and it costed me about €70. I estimate the feature "bluetooth connection" can add something like $10 to $20 to the retail price. So if you drop that requirement then the speaker that fits your budget can be of somewhat better quality. Just hooking it up through the headphone socket of your device would be much easier and cheaper!

Battery powered (and long battery life) also restricts the options. For good sound you need power. Something like 10W per channel would be nice. If the power is not sufficient, you'll drive it to the max and it will start to distort. Big power packs are expensive and heavy. So with a light battery, the battery life won't be enough to play all day. Just hooking it up to mains power would be far easier and cheaper!

$100 is a price point where carefully selected multi-media speakers can be interesting though...

Will you use it to create music?

Because if so, then Bluetooth is tough due to latency. I had 2 BT speakers so far: Bose SoundLink Mini and Beoplay P2 and both suck when connected through Bluetooth - it's basically impossible to play music like that. Bose has audio-in connection and Beoplay only has USB-in (works like an external sound card) and Beoplay has absolutely unusable latency over that USB connection too - it's impossible to use it for music making. Bose over audio-in is just fine and I use it like that sometimes when playing with music in weird places.

I know that the advice is not what you are looking for but it might just be that a better option for music producing would be to spend that money on headphones.

But if you are stuck on bluetooth speaker… I don't think it's possible to find even a semi-pro speaker for this price (semi-pro as in neutral sounding and not ridiculously bass boosted). But if you are dead set on buying a bt speaker, then I hear good things about JBL speakers (they will fit your budget easy) - just make sure to check connectivity and latency.

For creating music, only take it if it has an extra input. Bluetooth is unusable. If you just want to listen to music, the KVR is not the right place to get advice.
I use successfully a Soundblaster Roar as small, transportable speaker. I don't like the sound so much, but it has a huge battery, that extra input and is still an easy solution to take my LinnStrument, my iPad and go anywhere and play my music as if it were an acoustical instrument...
