Thanks for your insight - appreciatedmusiclover55547 wrote:I'd recommend a Clock Speed of over 3.0GHz, preferably 3.5GHz if you use a lot of VIs, but if 10.3.3 was OK on your system, 10.4 should be too. You might have an issue with the likes of ChromaVerb as it can take a lot of the Single Core's overall processing power, and this is the area where Clock Speed really matters (as many a Kontakt or Serum user knows.)andymcbain wrote:Any comments on general CPU usage etc with 10.4? Sorry to spoil your Apple rants, but I just checked my "Purchased" list in the App Store, and listed, and available for re-download, are:Jace-BeOS wrote:Again, NO, this is not how it works. They've been removing OS versions from purchased lists. Without a direct link to the hidden OS on the store (available still for Sierra, for example), you wont find it in your store list.

Don’t think they hear that. They just blast away, like the trombone section in a high school band. They play on cue and can have a very noticeable effect on an audience. But they’re not (yet) trained to listen to what others are playing.AdamWysokinski wrote:While the price of Reaper is really good, I really don't think that these two can be compared in terms of content (both in terms of quality and quantity) to price ratio.Enkerli wrote:Cue the Reaper section in 4… 3… 2…Cinebient wrote:Say about Apple what you want but no DAW give you that for such a low entree price.

Thanks a lot! Caught a glimpse of the interface in the intro video to the Groove3 tut about the 10.4 update (quite a fast turnaround!). Could be quite interesting to work with this. Not completely sure how easy or efficient it’ll be to map my Eigenharp Pico unto these articulation controls, but it’ll be fun to try.musiclover55547 wrote:I posted this on Gearslutz, and since you asked:Enkerli wrote:Still waiting for my Pro Apps Bundle to be “shipped through email”. (Which apparently isn’t about checking education status.) Really getting excited about Logic.
Eventually noticed some mentions of horns, buried in the release notes. Curious about the articulations. Haven’t been that much of a fan of instrumental samples, but there’s something nice about playing with more fluid articulations, especially with a wind controller. Since the sampler accepts MPE, that can make for nice live stuff (especially once it’s added to MainStage).
I opened the Studio Tenor Sax 1 in the EXS24. It reminds me of a Monolith in that it is similar to Drum Kit Designer with very large CAFs. This sax is about six layers in the EXS Instrument Editor. The Studio String Ensemble is functioning like a Multi with different instruments all playing in one very large EXS Object comprised of many, many layers. Sounding pretty good too.
Furthermore, I have the new Chroma Reverb on an AUX Send. It sounds in the league of some of the better third party AUs I routinely use, at least upon first blush. The GUI almost looks like a huge Ableton Live EFX. Unexpectedly nice!

Preliminary thoughts:
Chromaverb is very nice!
The Mellotron is übercool! You can mix two sources, like strings and choir, etc., for some good old fashioned Genesis-like sounds.
The new String and Horn instruments are surprisingly good. I am going to think about selling off my VSL SEs.
That said, re: Sierra: I ran EtreCheck, and it gave my system a rating of 'Excellent,' though the computer still boots more slowly, and Logic is also loading more slowly. Also got 'you don't have enough permissions' on some loops, though I run the computer as admin. The loop still played, though. I hope that once the Fusion Drive gets that Logic is a priority, it will load more quickly.
All in all, I am pretty pleased, though I hope things speed up a bit once the OS settles in, and once the Fusion Drive works out what is what.

I'm not reading a thread about Logic but out of curiosity, how much of this new stuff appears to be Camel-related? I'm guessing that new Phat FX is a successor to CamelPhat and the StepFX is possibly a follow up to CamelSpace. Perhaps Chromaverb is based upon the existing Alchemy reverb also..?

I can afford it... but I never have. My current MBP is 2 1/2 years old... I expect to use it at least another 2-3 years...Jace-BeOS wrote:You can afford to replace your computing devices every three years? i can't.pdxindy wrote:Then upgrade every 2-3 years... you do not have to do it annually

What a fantastic update!
I love the new GUI's. I have no problem with flat design. It's functional, easy on the eyes and easy to work with. Very much looking forward to when Sculpture gets the new GUI
Haven't even had a chance to try half the new stuff yet!

Is anyone having an issue with Chromaverb not displaying the visualization button that is supposed to be located about 1/3rd of the way up from the bottom, on the right-hand side of the plugin? It is not appearing on mine, and there aren't any colors displaying in the graphical display. Not sure why this is happening? I sent a bug report to Apple, but who knows if they'll respond. I'm on 10.12.6 Sierra, Mid 2011 27" imac, 12 gig RAM. Looking for some possible reasons.

Does anyone know where the new content for Mellotron, Horns, Strings installs to? I'd like to move it to my external drive.

YES, I'm seeing this too, but what's weird is that the display is only missing on my Mac Pro, but it's fine on my MBP. Both are running OS 10.12.6. Still trying to figure it out....brozobob wrote:Is anyone having an issue with Chromaverb not displaying the visualization button that is supposed to be located about 1/3rd of the way up from the bottom, on the right-hand side of the plugin? If you downloaded or installed the update then it is available. If you never download it, then it won't appear in your list.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:Yes! Might have something to do with Metal not being supported on older graphics cards (in my case, Radeon 5870). In Chromaverb's Controls View, at the bottom of the list, you can enable/disable the visualization, but it makes no difference. See this LPH thread:tremolounge wrote:YES, I'm seeing this too, but what's weird is that the display is only missing on my Mac Pro, but it's fine on my MBP. Both are running OS 10.12.6.
