+1 on the look. Actually I love the look. Best yet imhopdxindy wrote:What a fantastic update!
I love the new GUI's. I have no problem with flat design. It's functional, easy on the eyes and easy to work with. Very much looking forward to when Sculpture gets the new GUI
Haven't even had a chance to try half the new stuff yet!

Why would you buy a new Mac every few years? I am still using a 2013 MacBook Pro at the studio and just installed Logic 10.4 and it is fine.Romantique Tp wrote:You're already paying for the updates by buying a Mac that costs up to nearly double of what it's actually worth every few years.killmaster wrote:Has to be the best value in a DAW!! I really like flat design too, and the trend audio plugins using it is surely welcome.killmaster wrote:+1 on the look. Actually I love the look. Best yet imhopdxindy wrote:What a fantastic update!

They are also separate instruments outside of the EXS.djanthonyw wrote:Never mind. G'luck! Seems to be fine for me. My Fusion Drive is kicking in, and things are getting snappier again. I am pleased. Hope it works as well for you!

It used to be that such products were the only realm of the pop-up market of products to address (or pretend to address) the absurdly cess-pool-like architecture of Windows. This wasn't something Mac OS had problems with and most (not all) utilities marketed at average users was junkware and unnecessary. Now, however, after seeing how many processes current Mac OS versions have running when they're just sitting there not being used by me... i feel like i am being teleported back to Windows, without actually being on Windows.Michael L wrote:^^^ I had a similar slowdown with a recent OS update and fixed it with a diagnostic program called EtreCheck. Apple Support Communities use it to share de-identified system data. It helps you clean up faulty kernel extensions, unnecessary launch agents/daemons, and other System junk. Also check if your audio interface needs a new driver and firmware.

Don't forget it is a strategy from Apple which charges you to the max for there overpriced hardware.killmaster wrote:Has to be the best value in a DAW!! Amazing what they offer. I can't think of another company that wouldn't be charging for these updates...

Stuck on El capitan here, so I switched to Reaper I don't regret it, far more powerfull than Logic and no need to buy a new mac !jacqueslacouth wrote:Pffft, I should be so Lucy to have a Mac that lasts that long. I'm currently on my fourth in 10 years...and I will add, my last. The shoddy quality control in their manufacturing, the over the top extortionate prices for repairs and the general reduction in specs for increasing prices for the hardware has, for me, finally outweighed the convenience of the software platform I have become used to.Zexila wrote:Same.trancema wrote:I still have a system with Snow Leopard and Logic 9 and I will keep it forever, I think, it works perfectly
Much as I have enjoyed using Logic as my main DAW for years and realising that it still equates to amazing value software, I am ready to switch to Ableton on the PC platform when this iMac dies (by my reckoning, another 2 1/2 years as it is now a year old)

Are there many issues with MacOS updates? I didn't see many problems on the Mac i've seen which were updated.virtualpt wrote:Good luck! I'm tempted. Let me know how it goesaMUSEd wrote:Installing Sierra, wish me luck!

I had problems with a 2011 i7 mini server. By the time I got to El Cap from Lion, the fan made it impossble to record audio, and even iTunes could not be played at low volume.
This iMac came stock with El Cap, and I refused to budge on upgrades...until 10.4. I have Sierra installed, and the Fusion Drive has kicked in. Logic loads as fast or faster than it did with El Cap, and my main template takes about 10 seconds to load.
So far, I am very pleased, and surprised. I had my Time Machine ready to revert, but it doesn't look like I will need, or want to.
