A new compressor! It actually got released a couple weeks ago but I forgot to post a thread here.

There are now skins for both N4 and N3. The N3 skin has switches on it which allow you to switch between the lite, full, and SHQ versions of the program, without the control settings getting reset (like they do when you switch programs inside nebula normally). This means you can audition your track in your DAW in lite mode, then just click full or SHQ before rendering to get the better quality. It's really convenient and easy to use.

I once thought I had mono for an entire year. It turned out I was just really bored...

SmackVU is quite excellent!Cupwise wrote:The N3 skin has switches on it which allow you to switch between the lite, full, and SHQ versions of the program,
Boy I wish Nebula in general had a feature to select the different quality variations AND change sample rates and load the correct sample rate program matched to the DAW rate - I often work in 44k and then switch to 96k for the render. With Nebual I have to go through every instanance, re-instantiate, re-load the program and reset all the parameters to those in the one for the lower rate. Its very time consuming and really just a stupid implementation which limits my use of Nebula over all.
Do you think AA cares? of course not.

just updated this library and sent out links to the update, but you only need the update if you use Nebula 3 pro or lower. You don't need it if you use Nebula 3 server, or N4.
It's been brought to my attention that the meters don't work in the custom N3 skin, when using Nebula 3 pro (almost surely also true for any version of Nebula below that one also). It works fine in Nebula 3 server and N4. The reason is because acustica updated Nebula a while back, adding two additional FUN slots, FUN9 and FUN10. You can't see them by going into 'edit' and 'fun', but they are in there, and can be used by devs. The problem is they didn't add them into any Nebula versions below Nebula 3 server in rank. So if any dev actually uses those funs, their programs won't function correctly in Nebula 3 pro. I was unaware that those FUNS weren't added to all Nebulas and just assumed they were safe to use, and wouldn't break compatibility with some older versions of Nebula (I'm not really complaining about this, just explaining why I have to update smackvu again. it would be nice to be able to use the extra funs but i don't really *need* them). My gain reduction meter code was using FUNs 9 and 10, hence why it wasn't working in Nebula 3 pro.
This update fixes that.

If only Nebula wasn't such an enormous pain to use. I'm not sure if I feel worse for devs who make really good products on the backs of AA or for the customers who have bang their heads against the workflow AA imposes.

I dont find it that bad. In fact focusing on specific EQ bands instead of having them all there in from of me, helps me to be more disciplined wih EQ use. I could do without the technical problems and limitations and bugs of Nebula however.jbarish wrote:If only Nebula wasn't such an enormous pain to use. Which is part of it too. AA doesn't keep up with bug fixes in a timely manner because they're too busy coming up with the next overrated and over hyped "Plugin Of The Month". Not to mention all the previous "Plugins of the month" that need bug fixes. I refuse to buy into their ridiculous business model.plexuss wrote:I dont find it that bad. Agree. N4 was enough for me. There were some good 2nd hand deals on the Acqua products but N4 is enough extra work for me. For me N4 is worth the hassle for the sound. But just barely.jbarish wrote:Which is part of it too. Hello folks, anyone love or use Cupwise Smack VU (DBX 160). Looking for a classic 70s comp for disco drums, (kick, snare, etc..). do you prefer it to Tim P Complex? Thanks for any tips. Cheers
