Anomaly - Dark Places IR is Westgatesounds.net's first Impulse Response library.
There will be several volumes to follow - featuring a mixture of IR files that favour treatment as Reverbs and Experimental FX.
This first volume focuses on the Reverb aspect, as well as changing the colour (Freq Response) of the sound.
Dark Places consists of 72 sounds from the Anomaly Vol. 1 folder Dark Places to be used as Impulse Responses.
To make these, the first 12 seconds of each sound were taken - fading out at the end. As the Anomaly sounds in general are very bass heavy, each sound had some of the lows removed to combat against resonant frequencies and to allow the higher frequencies to interact as reverb.
Each sound was then taken into AudioThing's Fog Convolver and exported as a slightly shorter .wav file - all between 7 to 9 seconds long. These new files became the Dark Places IR files.
Each IR file was given a preset in Fog Convolver that set the length of the IR file and the Freq Respnse of the IR file with Fades applied where required. This means that you can alter the time of the impulse response - I preferred to keep them short in the presets - but also move along the response file to use different areas of it as well. You can also shape the colour of the reverb effect by altering the Freq Response - the setting for the High Pass and Low Pass Filters.
All sounds were normalized to -15 dB in order to keep them as a reverb behind the sound being played through Fog Convolver. You have the ability within Fog Convolver to increase the gain of the IR file by 6 dB if you want to bring it out more.Future Volumes of Anomaly IR's will have two sets of files - one at -15 dB for Reverb FX and one at normal volume for experimental purposes.
Dark Places IR Files - 72 .wav files - 96.3 Mb - 72 presets for AudioThing Fog Convolver.
The .wav files should also be useable in any Convolution Reverb.
Audio demos are already up and more are coming.....
