Hey everybody
Mainly a Cubase user here, but lately been flirting with S1. Again.
I do loads of orchestral / string stuff so I'm a heavy keyswitcher, but this morning I had an epiphany.
What if I made a multi instrument in S1 that contained all the articulations for a single instrument, let's say violins.
It would contain for example an instance of an instrument for legato, one for pizz, etc.
Is there a way to assign a specific MIDI channel to an instrument in a multi, so that ch. 1 would trigger instrument 1, channel 2 instrument 2 and so on?
That way I'd only have to select a bunch of notes on the piano roll and assign them to a different channel if I wanted them to be, say, spiccato.
Thanks!

You can do your key ranges with instruments within 'Multi Instruments' across the keyboard and there are instruments with articulations already setup with some instruments. Also whilst what you are trying to do in regard to midi channels will likely require some workarounds, if you do want to get dirty with articulations to a deeper level then the obvious choice to go down that rabbit hole would be to purchase the Presence XT Editor for the Presence instrument that's provided with Studio One as shown below in the video below. It would have been nice for it to have been unlocked for users in 3.5, sadly not for those who would actually like to use such a feature without additional cost...

Cubase is miles ahead of S1 when it comes to orchestral MIDI.. I would just stick with it.
