You didn't do them very well in Bias Amp 1, Bias FX, Bias Pedal or the Pro Series EQ, yet despite knowing about the flaws for a year or more (specifically the crap UI engine) you continued with them in to Bias Amp 2 when that should've been your opportunity to change them and blow people away with how awesome it now is. But I guess that boat has sailed for now.Joe Kuo wrote:We know there were things we didn't do very well.

To me the 3 top ampsims (sound quality/realistic response) right now are:
1) Scuffham S-Gear (cleans and breaking up to mid gain crunch and vintage amp tones)
2) Mercurial (Spark, has the best Marshall crunch sound IMO)
3) TSE X50 2.0 (high gain hard rock/metal rhythm riffy sounds and leads)
Then there is a number of freeware like the Ignite Amps stuff that comes next or as good as the stuff on the list. But pretty much Scuffham hands down, is winning so far. Maybe a Kemper or Axe FX may be better, though haven't tried those hardware modelers yet. Line 6 Helix has upped the quality too.
Although I haven't tried any of the newer Plugin Alliance ampsims, nor able to even demo the UAD (Softube/Plugin Alliance) offerings.
Most people will probably run straight into a clean steril DI as was intended by most amp sim companies. I use a clean tube preamp (Presonus TubePre v1 replaced with a Mesa Boogie 12AX7 V1 preamp stage tube) before going into my DI for a better more amp-like response and nice beefy signal full of the harmonics you need. It's set to a clean sound dialed enough to just saturate the signal slightly. Turn up the gain on pre and you can get breaking up sounds all the way to medium high gain, and this also doesn't color the sound that much either, as the unit does t have a tone or EQ knob/circuit. I've also found using a decent hardware Compressor pedal set for mild compression helps enourmously to get full bodied clean tones to cut through and stand on thier own in a mix without much post dynamic processing. If I need to add an overdrive pedal sound I will use my hardware OD pedals before that tube preamp from now on, although the Cytomic Scream has come a long way in terms of OD pedal modeling/emulation but it uses a lot of CPU.

Question for those of you who have Revalver.
I've been watching a number of videos and from what I've seen, it appears that this plugin was made for use with a real guitar ONLY. I see there is a create profile routine and other things such as setting for latency and so on.
Can I use this with a virtual guitar as I do with all my other amp sims and just ignore all this profile and latency stuff? IOW, can I just pull it up as an insert FX in Cubase on the track with my virtual guitar and start tweaking?

I’m pretty sure revalver sits in the fx chain like any other fx vst .. stand-alone is another matter. Just feed it a signal.
Beware of their copy protection I think it requires a USB stick or some such nonsense.

Yes, it does, which is no problem as I already use iLok and eLicenser. I'm sure it's probably one of those or something like it.generaldiomedes wrote:I’m pretty sure revalver sits in the fx chain like any other fx vst .. stand-alone is another matter. Just feed it a signal.

You can lock your Revalver license to any random USB device, even a phone. The license is actually stored on your computer.wagtunes wrote: Yes, it does, which is no problem as I already use iLok and eLicenser. I'm sure it's probably one of those or something like it.

Interesting .. going to check out their demo. Always a sucker for a bunch a fancy tech specs, and Bias' Mesa tone just doesn't do it for me.metalifuxx wrote: 2) Mercurial (Spark, has the best Marshall crunch sound IMO)
Scuffham is indeed great, but I fear they have stopped developing

Well, I just downloaded the demo version of Revalver and this thing is a tweaker's dream.
Will definitely be purchasing this one shortly. Probably tomorrow.

Blue Cat Destructor seems to be very good in the crunch / rock area (what is lacking to the other simulations that are constantly tested for metal powerchords and high gain stuff).
Positive Grid stuff (Amp and Fx) is sonically very good at this too, but their plugins are so heavy and slow to manipulate they are almost unusable.

once again mixing and matching Torpedo WOS or Toneboosters reverbs or Reverberate 2 or Xenoverb or Valhalla and using FX such as ReplikaXT or Polaris or having RC20 or TRacks EQs Compressors you can get great stuff from any amp sim
Put your money anywhere and mix and match

It can take a whole life to get the perfect guitar tone.

Las question for Revalver owners. What packs, outside of the Producer's Pack, do you recommend?
I am thinking of getting these.
Redhot Bundle
Metal Pack Bundle
Vintage cabs bundle
Budda Pedal Bundle
All told, that would come out to $153.

Scuffham is still developing, they’re just moving really slowly. They just showed something at the NAMM show, but there wasn’t any coverage, so nobody knows anyyabout it yet.generaldiomedes wrote:Interesting .. going to check out their demo.
