This is my first submission ever to the KVR cafe. It's a poem called Briar Rose by Maggie Sawkins set to music (It's also the first time I've ever worked with spoken word - wot? no chorus :-o )

Please spare me 2 mins 53 secs and tell me what you think - Cheers
Philly.

EDIT: link updated to version 2 now at improved bitrate, new melodic part and more varied beats.
Thanks for listening

Hi, welcome to KVR!
Man, your track scares me. It's very dark.
I like the strings. and i think the beat could be better, i think it needs some variation.
Well, HTH.
Bye.

Thanks for listening. Check out version2 - improved bit rate, new beats, and a nice little melodic part at the end.

Cheers!

The poem just perfectly seems to fit and just invites for the kind of tune you did build here.

I very much enjoy the atmosphere you created with all the sounds and FX. Love the pushing forward drums that sound cool and crunchy.

Looking at the profile at your site, I noticed the hard setup for guitar and dirty FX; and I have a feeling listening to the tune that you incorporated a little bit of this. Would love to hear some dirty widdling (either on this tune to extend or new tunes)

Anyhow; welcome to KvR :)

Rather frightening... reminded me of Virgin Prunes in their heyday actually. Funny thing though is that the organ (?) intro sounds a bit like the intro to Deep Purple's "Perfect Strangers" which is not that bad incidentally

Thanks for your comments!

Mystahr - expect some serious Stratocasting on my next track!

Jazz Franco - the Organ intro is a preset on Charlie Retro Organ called "Full Lord" so I'm not suprised it sounds a bit Purple (Though I don't know the track you're referring to)- I shove it through Quad Frohmage for added throaty grit! 8)

it's from 1984 eponymous reunion album, not bad BTW

well, it's dark track, really . Playtoy talked me about it. i do like beats , the feeling in the track is like a song from death in vegas.
Who is the girl on the mic? she is wonderfull.

The girl on the mic is Maggie Sawkins. She wrote the poem too.

Expect more from us soon - we're trying to complete an album before Christmas.
