I bought Nexus 2.
Was unsure about it as I've always distrusted ROMplers due to coming into music production at a time when the ROMplers of the 80's and 90's were still very much a thing but very much maligned in the circles I moved.
I was worried that the presets would either be hard to get to sit in a mix or dominate the mix. I was worried that they'd be totally untweakable. I was worried that it would be supremely bad value for money. I thought I'd feel as if I was cheating and not "keeping it real" with my inner synth dude.
But I had need for a good ROMpler for the band I'm in so I embraced the fear and clicked BUY.
HO. LY. SH. IT.
It sounds incredible, and in the past few days I've got more done than I have in the past few weeks. It's like a breath of fresh air... I feel free to concentrate on the music rather than getting distracted by creating the "right" sounds. I wish I'd been able to admit sooner to myself that, although I love sound, I'm not a synthesist and putting pressure on myself to create sounds from scratch is pointless. I *do* feel like I'm cheating but I don't care.
I will continue to relax by having fun with Reaktor/Blocks and making noise for the satisfaction of it all but, otherwise, my music life has been royally kicked up the bum and I can't see myself opening a "proper" synth for a while unless there's a sound I absolutely have to use.
Just wanted to put that out there as I haven't been this excited about making music for a long time. Will report back in 12 months to see if i'm sick of it.

What did you bought, starter, value or complete package?
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here?

I can say it too. Nexus is a very very good plugin.
I just regret the stupid dongle, because of it I don't use this plugin enough.
Without the dongle I would probably use it very more frequently.

I got the Starter package with the EDM Vol.4. I think there's enough in here to keep me going for a while at least...!

I agree that it sounds beautiful, and although it lacks the kind of control I enjoy most, I do find lots of places for it in my work. I hear many people hating on it for a variety of reasons, including the somewhat pricey cost of plugin and patchsets, but I really love it for what it does - and that is sound amazing!humdingergravy wrote:...It sounds incredible...
And a fair amount of tweaking can be accomplished through adjusting various voice mixing, a little thinking outside-the-box, as well as the usual envelope and filter fun! It could be even more tweakable with some relatively simple (IMO) added control to allow mixing of voices from other patches, and maybe even patchsets.
BUT, I do agree that you can get quite a bit more "synth" for the same money from other flagship plugins. I like what Nexus does, just wish it could do a little more (maybe in the next update!).

Love Nexus. Some KVR members drove away the dev from here long ago but from my experiences he is a great guy. I could not live without this "rompler", I put in quote because it really is much more under the hood than a normal rompler.

Spend €300 more and you can buy a brand new Korg Kronos 88. I know what I'd preferegbert101 wrote:Only 2,999 Euros for Nexus 2 and all the expansions. Well, that's a bargain. I'm sold.

VPS avenger is a good alternative (lotsa similarly themed pro packs) if you want something that is also a ‘real’ synth

Can you now explain what are "normal" romplers and what they got?ATS wrote:Love Nexus. Some KVR members drove away the dev from here long ago but from my experiences he is a great guy.
