Ableton is investing a lot in education lately, Gerhard Behles and Bernd Roggendorf talked about education being a focus for them in interviews.
If you contact Ableton's support I bet they are willing to provide copies of Live Lite for the kids (plus the educational discount if you want to upgrade your own copy of live 8 ), if you can provide minimum evidence you are a teacher.
