Okay, so now we're going to tread down a very slippery slope.

News flash. LOTS of rock musicians did R&B stuff because R&B was a major part of popular music, if not THE most major part. In fact, if you know your music history (which obviously you don't) around 1973, the rock band itself started to die out. Most of what you heard WAS R&B in some form or another. Acts like Stevie Wonder, The Bluenotes, Roberta Flack, Marvin Gaye, Billy Preston, Diana Ross, Billy Paul, Isley Brothers, Skylark, O Jays, Barry White, Bloodstone, Sly and the Family Stone, Gladys Knight, War, Johnie Taylor, Al Green, Curtis Mayfield, Tower Of Power, The Spinners, The Temptations, Ohio Players, The Stylistics, and many others, started to dominate the charts. There was very little rock and roll to go around. And even rock bands like Steely Dan, did a lot of R&B stuff.

So yeah, if you want to go down that slippery slope of "Well, rock bands did R&B too, so that makes them R&B sounds", fine. I have no choice but to concede to your absurdity of "stating the f**king obvious."

I already said, without early R&B, there IS NO ROCK AND ROLL.

So by all means, you want to stake claim to these "R&B sounds" have at it to your heart's content.

All I know is when I heard XYZ R&B artist playing a Toto synth sound, I know I heard Toto doing it first.

But whatever. Let's just put this whole STUPID argument to rest already because neither of us is going to give in to the other.

Nah, Rock artists didn't go anywhere in 73, they continued to exist and be successful.
Your list of black artists did not populate the Rock charts :hihi:

Normally I'd give it to 'The Waggenheim', but he's not able to close this thread.

Sooner or later he'll throw a hissy fit, and declare how much he hates this place, and that he's "out"

Fluffy, then :tu:

Oh really? Are we referring to the official Billboard top hits of the year that took into account ALL genres?

That's the only f**king list I care about. And trust me, it wasn't dominated by rock bands.

But again, shows how little you know.

Here's just a small sample.

Billboard year end chart for all genres combined for 1973.

#3 Killing Me Softly, Roberta Flack
#4 Let's Get It On, Marvin Gaye
#8 Will It Go Round In Circles, Billy Preston
#10 Touch Me In The Morning, Diana Ross
#15 Me And Mrs Jones, Billy Paul
#17 Drift Away, Dobie Gray
#19 You Are The Sunshine Of My Life, Stevie Wonder
#21 That Lady, Isley Brothers
#22 Pillow Talk, Sylvia

Almost 50% of the top 22 songs were R&B songs.

But please, keep showing how ignorant you are of the era.

Keep 'em coming Fluffy. This is getting funnier and funnier.

Perhaps someone could write a script that automatically splits a thread and sends the offshoot to HPC any time it detects two posts from Wags and Fluffy on the same page.
