What do you people use.

I've been pretty happy with George L's, but they keep coming lose and I'm too lazy to tighten the up

I've heard monster are pretty good.

I found this store that sells some pretty high end gear. Here is the link for the cables they sell.

Do you think they are worth it?

Where do you think are the differences between an average cable and an high-end cable (as on that site)?

I'm asking because i don't care if a certain "Tone Merchants" that sells cables says that it is "amazed by the difference". :?

pro-co Excaliber

best money i ever spent on a cable, has a spring loaded shealth on one end so if you cable pops outta your guitar it does not make that horrible noise.

was about 35 bills.

Man,

I don't know so much about cables, hence the post.

My George L's do sound better than the cheaper cables I've had...

The audio cable industry is such a brilliant scam.
100% marketing 0% science.

Boys, nuffco salutes you. Keep taking the suckers. Nothing that profitable should be legal.

9 Nines (99.999999999%) pure unobtainium core, annealed to form a single continuous crystal.

Afghani cashmere interlayer (makes silk sound thick and muddy).

Coated with a panda foreskin sheath for the ultimate in rf breakthrough rejection.

Vanishingly low inductance, and capacitance.*

Only 27,000 euros per meter.

*16 ohm resistance, but we have a tame boffin who can plausibly explain why this is irrelevant.

Couple of minutes. I know the bullshit they use well.

In my case I just want them to be able to last for a while without wearing out, going intermittant, etc....if cheap ones deliver that kind of dependability, I'm happy.

A sizeable amount of my cables are Monster, but mainly because I had a friend of mine wire up a bunch of them for me off a spool of Monster wire that he had ...and that was back in 1986, and they're STILL holding up great. So that's why most of mine are Monster...becauser they're the same ones I've had since then and haven't needed to buy others! ;)
On the other hand, I've bought cheap ones that lasted about a year or less (I dunno, maybe I'm just extraordinarily rough on cables ).

I recently bought a bunch of Live Wire short cables for use between my pedals; they were very affordable and seem really sturdy too...so if I had a need for more cables, perhaps I'd look into that brand.

There defenitely IS a difference in cables, sometimes even a rather huge difference... there's some questions though:
A) Is the rest of your equipment up to the task as well?
B) Is the investment worth it?
C) Does it even sound "better" (whatever that might mean)?

Personally, I am no Mr. Golden Ears at all (years of playing in rather loud rock bands without earplugs ruined that fun), I still noticed a more or less drastical difference on my setup when a friend came over with a few monster cables to check them out (they even have differently sounding ones).
But then, in the end I was pretty much as happy with the cables I'm using since ages (Zeck or Klotz with Neutrik plugs) and defenitely couldn't say they were sounding "worse" (maybe even more to the opposite). At least it doesn't seem I could justify the price at all.
There's differences though. I recommend doing a test by yourself.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

Just get one of these.

I guarantee it will get lost or stolen before it breaks. I have had mine for 20 years now. And I bet most of the guitar players here will agree with me.

You need a busload of faith to get by.

Klotz seem like pretty decent cables. From what I've read they are like the George L's with the problems...

I actually love planet waves circuit breakers.

They stand up very well, the circuit breaker feature is invaluable when playing at gig-volumes, and they dont suffer from any "normal" cheap-cable problems... sever rfi, microphonic etc...

but sounding better? err... well they dont get weird interferences or anything like a lot of cables Ive used. But they certainly dont do anything magical. just well made cables.

I wish I could: when I first started out years ago (late 70's/early 80's) I used to use Whirlwind cables a lot, but all the them went bad and broke and often fairly quickly. But maybe they make them better since then. :)
